COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dogfish Head superstar – Sam Calagione, will be our fearless collaborator! The result – a beer-epiphany never before innovated called Liquid Breadfruit!

To celebrate the cornucopia of a Maui-grown harvest, we will ingeniously combine local breadfruit (or ulu) & toasted papaya seeds into the recipe of an imperial golden ale fermented using Dogfish Head’s DNA (Delaware-Native-Ale) yeast. You won’t want to wait until October to try it, but oh it will be worth the wait!

12 oz can via Lubiere, cool, tulip. Clear deep golden with a fair off-white head. Sorta vaguely fruity with boiled cereals, faintly citrusy with light tropical notes, a bit dusty, a touch resinous, pleasant if a bit unfocused. Medium+ body with moderate, fine effervescence. Fairly fruity, alcoholic, reminds me of a Belgian ale, sorta bready and yeasty with a touch of spiciness, a touch tropical and citrusy, not bad; dry with some bitterness and a boozy, vaguely fruity finish. Lower abv would have been nicer. The beer isn’t bad, it just is somewhat unfocused.

Draught at the Yard House, Honolulu, HI
Nice golden color, clean, with small head. The aroma is moderately fruity. Round mouthfeel; some malt flavor with pleasant and mild fruity impression, quite bold bitterness, and some alcohol feeling in the end.
Nice.

Can; poured an orange-amber color with a big frothy white head. Aroma of yeast, fruit, a touch of sourness, alcohol and herbs. Flavor was more muted than I expected, which was good because I don’t think I love the flavor profile. Some tartness, too aggressive yeast and fruit notes, with a rather short finish.

Can. pours gold with a thick, persistent white head. Moderate lacing. Aroma is lightly sweet and a bit funky with a bit of white bread. Taste is spicy, sweet, a bit tart, a bit cloying. Not great, but very nice, crisp, and easy drinking. Definitely something different.

Can at Lay’s juau. Pours murky orange with small beige head. Nose of sweet funk fruit, bready, yeast. A little boozy. I did not enjoy this.

January 19, 2013 - can via trade with Aaron. Dark orange pour with some head. Aroma was fruity - apple and bready / yeasty. Taste was the same, not really good and kind of a sour finish.

Can. Slightly hazy orange pour with a small spotty white head. Very sweet, some passion fruit. Funky and weird. I’m not digging this.

Poured from a can to a pint glass. Orangish color with a large head. Funny aroma. Kind of sweet taste with a slightly spicy aftertaste. Unique taste. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
