COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dogfish Head superstar – Sam Calagione, will be our fearless collaborator! The result – a beer-epiphany never before innovated called Liquid Breadfruit!

To celebrate the cornucopia of a Maui-grown harvest, we will ingeniously combine local breadfruit (or ulu) & toasted papaya seeds into the recipe of an imperial golden ale fermented using Dogfish Head’s DNA (Delaware-Native-Ale) yeast. You won’t want to wait until October to try it, but oh it will be worth the wait!

On tap at Maui Brewpub. Golden amber color with nice foamy head. Taste is actually light. Sweet taste with mild hop flavor. This beer is so easy to drink, tastes more like 3% rather than 8.2%. I love this beer, maybe it’s the atmosphere but this beer kills.

Can @ home, picked up at 287 Liquor Fort Collins. Pours a murky, orange appearance with a fluffy, tan head. Chewy bready, grapefruity, lemon citrusy, a bit spicy aroma. Thick bready, somewhat tart, passion fruit, grapefruity, somewhat spicy, pretty strong flavor. Not a refreshing brew that you can kick back in the sun like the other Maui brews and way overpriced.

Can... Poured hazy amber/orange with a thin, slightly off-white head. Earthy tones, bready malts. A yeast character similar to DFH beers for sure. Some citrus, bitterness, and astringent rind tones too. Fizzy, foamy, full mouthfeel.

This gets points for being unique. Yeasty and citrus odors came up. It had a color similar to cream soda with a fizzy head. The tastes are hard to get your head around. It was like a pale ale with hops and fruit flavors. Pineapple and bread with some spice. It was different with each couple of sips. Easy to drink and alcohol was well hidden.

Pours cloudy gold with a big white head. Intriguing sweet aromas, mixed tropical fruit. The sweetness follows through on the palate and a little spice in the finish. A sort of thick, dry malt flavor in the middle. Very different, worth trying, good not great. I’d like a lot more aroma and something more in the finish, i.e. bitter, sour or spicy.

Lubiere (14133) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 7, 2013
a hazed golden ale with a thick creamy white head. In aroma, sweet vanilla and marzipan, light chalky notes, pleasant. In mouth, sweet malty ale with mineral notes, a bit of fruit pulp, OK. At the REAL gastropub, Zwanze day, Dec. 1 2012.

jhamp9 (1937) - Corinth, Texas, USA - JAN 6, 2013
Slightly hazy peach/orange color with some fine particles floating around and a white head. Aroma is dough, band aid, and a bit of candied pineapple. Taste is doughy with tropical fruits, some spice and alcohol in the background. Soft carbonation.

A hazy orange colored beer. Funk is there in the aroma with a slight stone fruit smell. The taste is barnyard funky but instead of stone fruit. I am getting mostly pear with an apple tinge.

12 oz can. Pours hazy orange with a medium off-white collapsing head. Aroma is fruity--not sure what breadfruit smells like--maybe a little worty. Taste is sweet and fruity; a little tart; finishes dry. Kind of boozy. A little underwhelming, but not bad.

Mora2000 (6158) - McKinney, Texas, USA - JAN 3, 2013
The beer pours a hazy yellow color with a large white head. The aroma has some yeast and fruit notes, as well as some biscuit malt. The flavor is similar. There is a nice biscuit and toasted malt character, as well as some nice citrus fruit. There is a bit of tartness. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.
