COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dogfish Head superstar – Sam Calagione, will be our fearless collaborator! The result – a beer-epiphany never before innovated called Liquid Breadfruit!

To celebrate the cornucopia of a Maui-grown harvest, we will ingeniously combine local breadfruit (or ulu) & toasted papaya seeds into the recipe of an imperial golden ale fermented using Dogfish Head’s DNA (Delaware-Native-Ale) yeast. You won’t want to wait until October to try it, but oh it will be worth the wait!

Tastes like a solid pilsener. Some bready and grassy notes. Not exactly sure what the papaya seeds or breadfruit contribute, but decent session beer.

Can. Hazy orange with white head. Smells wheaty, slight fruit. Tastes creamy, foamy, light, a touch of fruitless, pepper, bitter finish. Nothing too exciting, not terrible. Very middle of the road.

Appearance: clear, kind of an odd orange color, with a fizzy near white head with average retention. Aroma: fruity and very floral/sweet, with notes of pineapple, peaches, mango, passion fruit, honey, and pie crust. Taste: sweet tropical fruits dominate up front, along with another fruity note from the yeast (I think), before an appealing graham cracker malt base rises. Finish: the sweet fruits hold on for awhile, but the malt base and yeasty spice last a surprisingly long time. Notes: Not a huge fan of this one. While the palate was light enough to completely mask the high abv, the tropical fruit flavors were just too strong, and did not lend themselves well to the character of the beer. A noble experiment to be sure.

January 19, 2013 - can via trade with Aaron. Dark orange pour with some head. Aroma was fruity - apple and bready / yeasty. Taste was the same, not really good and kind of a sour finish.

Breadfruit, peach, pear, papaya. A collaboration between Dogfish Head and Maui Brewing Co. 8.2% alcohol saves it.

Can. Pours a very hazy amber color with a moderate off-white head. Nose is definitely fruity, with some slight bread as well as an almost citrus-berry note. Taste is actually a little sour, and with a lot more bite to it than I expected. Not bad, but I’m not a fruit beer fan, really.

Can. Slightly hazy orange pour with a small spotty white head. Very sweet, some passion fruit. Funky and weird. I’m not digging this.

Can at Lay’s juau. Pours murky orange with small beige head. Nose of sweet funk fruit, bready, yeast. A little boozy. I did not enjoy this.

Shared by the Rhino! The beer is very light orange and completely transparent with a half inch of white head. The aroma offers tropical fruit, alcohol, sweet malt, oddness. Weird flavor as well. Like a cloying mixed drink. Light spice. Lots of boozy sweetness. Not my thing.

Golden amber color with white head. No lacing, very "clean" looking brew. Aroma slightly bready but seems sanitized. Taste is neutral to me not bad drinking however. Clean finish. I feel the aroma could be improved.
