Draught at REAL A Gastropub, Honolulu, HI, as ’Lil Makaha Hibiscus IPA, 4.9% ABVDubC5000 (305) - San Francisco, California, USA - SEP 21, 2012
Cloudy red-amber color with persistent compact head. Very nice aroma of hops, fresh, fruity, with a new exogenous note that may be the hibiscus. Light mouthfeel, with light crispy malt flavor, quality hopping, correct bitterness, and a flowery and fruity note that is not adding any good, indeed it creates a weird feeling in the final.
A good base beer, the hibiscus doesn’t make it better.
Blood orange in color. Flowery, honeyed aroma. Effervescent hoppy flavor with distinct sweet hibiscus and mild saffron aftertaste. Light and refreshing. yespr (44811) - Copenhagen O, DENMARK - SEP 15, 2012
From tap at MikkellerBar. Pours hazy orange with a small off white head. Aroma is grapefruity, light pine and citrusy, mild malt note. Smooth fruity, light ginger similar note. Herbal, bitter and citrusy. Vague sweet impression, otherwise rather dry and bitter into a citrusy finish. joergen (27984) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - SEP 15, 2012

On tap at the brewpub. A tasty little IPA. Like a growler of a good standard IPA with a tea bag soaked in it -- the hibiscus is a nice addition. ben4321 (6422) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - JUL 6, 2012

Location: Draft at the Brewpub, 7/6/12
Aroma: The aroma has some mild hops, light citrus, spice, and pine notes
Appearance: It pours a clear caramel orange color with a small white head and light lace
Flavor: This one tastes similar to the nose, spicey with a little hops and malts too
Palate: The body is light medium, the carbonation is average-to-lively, and the finish is spicy and dry
I thought that this was an interesting IPA for sure. I liked it. It has more spice then it does classic IPA hops. The finish is a little odd, but it is worth a try for sure. Still though, it wasn’t a favorite of mine.
