This red ale, brewed with Liliko’l and Michigan cherries is ruby red in color, tart and refershing in flavor. Working with Ron is something I’ve wanted to do since I had my first Jolly Pumpkin Beer. Years later its a reality. Being involved on this project was an honor and a privilege. Mahalo to my MBC crew and to you, fans of craft beer. Aloha, John Walsh.
Yes, Michigan and Hawai’i are connected. It should be obvious to you know, as you hold this beer, and read this label. John and I designed this beer with two noble fruits from two noble states. Michigan & Hawaii. Cherries & Lilko’i. Starting to see the connection? I feel it. So does John. 4391 miles may separate our breweries, but not our thirst for the exquisite. Hipa! - Ron Jeffries

Pours a cloudy amber color with a short tan head. The tart cherries and sweeter tropical fruit comes through in the aroma, along with a faint hop aroma. The flavor is tart fruit up front with a sweeter middle and slightly sweet and tart aftertaste. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Przedziwne piwo. Wytrawne i orzeźwiające. W kategorii piwa owocowe: świetne!

Prezentacja: pomarańczowo-brązow (jak pepsi z sokiem pomarańczowym), mętne, wymuszona sycząca niska piana o grubych okach szybko ginie ;
Aromat: słodowy, drożdżowy, malinowy, liczi ;
Smak: drożdżowy, goryczkowy (nie wiem czy od chmielu czy od tego dziwnego owocu), jakby rozgryzać pestki malin lub granatów ;
Odczucie: wodniste, wysoko nasycone, lekko zalepiające ;
Ogólnie: dzi-wa-czne

Can: Murky copper, mostly opaque & topped with a small beige head that’s gone in moments. Aroma is strange & pretty mild overall. Some vague fruit sweetness. Maybe pear? Apple? Hard to tell. Muddled. Touches of caramel & toffee malt, seemingly a bit stale. Kind of metallic as well. Flavor is also very vague, muddled, & hard to dissect. Generic fruity sweetness. Hints of apple, white grape perhaps. Must & bitterness grow towards the finish. A touch of earthy hops & metallic caramel malts. Thin mouth feel, heavy carbonation. Wow, a big let-down considering how good the Jolly Pumpkin version is. This just isn’t a very good beer.

355 ml can. Pours a turbid brown with moderate head. Aromas of glue, cedar, and brown sugar. Flavors of tart apple crumble, lychee, odd medicinal notes. Not my cup of tea.

Ale alla frutta delle Hawai. Colore tonaca da frate e schiuma beige. Al naso spuntano note di caramello e vino cotto. In bocca bilanciatura tendente all’acido-dolce con corpo medio. Il sapore leggermente ferroso e di frutta acidita ricorda una sour ale. Finale poco persistente ed anonimo. Almeno la lattina č bella per chi fa la colezione. Forse questa birra nella sua terra d’origine č tutta un altra cosa. Sconsigliata!

Karamellszínű főzet, két gyártó együttműködésének gyümölcse a szó legszorosabb értelmében is, amennyiben a felhasznált alapanyagokat tekintjük.

"Drank one a little too warm. A tiny but of tartness, obvious biscuit malt and cherries, and not much in the way of passion fruit. Will add when I have one cold. Cool beer though.Tasted the same colder. Good, not quite up to the awesomeness I was hoping for from these two."

THOUGHTS: The aroma was a little weak. I could taste and smell the cherries, but I couldn’t seem to find the passion fruit in the flavor until the bottom of the can was poured into the glass. That action also made it more sour. TECHNICAL: Drank 3/23/2013. Can. Poured a dark, copper that was slightly reddish in the right light with a small to average, tan head. The last pour from the can was more of a muddy, light brown. The aroma was nice but weak and contained light caramel malt, both sweet and sour cherries, passion fruit, tropical fruit and other sour fruit. The initial flavor was slightly sweet and acidic and lightly sour; while the finish was moderately sweet and sour, lightly acidic and slightly acetic. There was caramel, cherry, sour cherry. other sour fruit, some citrus once the bottom of the can was poured and some sour orange juice. The medium body was a little dry with quite fizzy carbonation and a dry and moderately astringent finish.
