I had this beer on tap at the brewery while I was on vacation there. It pours Jet black with a healthy mocha head. There is a very strong burnt "fire pit" aroma with roasted and chocolate hints. The flavor is dominated by heavy roasted barley and chocolate tastes. It is exceptionally smooth and finishes fairly sweet. Nitro at the Brewpub. Nice dark pour with nice tight bubble head and lacing. Aromas were somewhat weak but the coffee/chocolate was all there. Flavors didn’t really come through for me. Draught at the brewery. Beer is very dark brown, nearly opaque with a large, creamy, light brown, mostly lasting head.<P>
The aroma is shy. Malty with a trace of molasses, light notes of coffee, chocolate, roasted grain; Hoppy with a moderate floral note; Yeasty with a trace of basement; Moderate miscellaneous note of dried stonefruits and currents.<P>
The flavor is heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly-to-moderately bitter with a long, moderately bittersweet finish.<P>

The six beers I had here all had a house character of a very smooth, creamy palate that works in some beers an not iin others. It works well in this one, the best of the bunch. Brown black, nice dense lasting head. Good roasted flavors.
