COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A Czech style dark lager with enough malt complexity to remind you that this is a very quenchable lager, while providing just enough roast to keep your mind wondering. Rest assured, the roastiness is very subtle, which may lead you to believe you are actually drinking a “light” beer. Don’t let the color fool you, this beer is a beverage for all!

oobawa (1748) - Tennessee, USA - MAY 18, 2017
Assertive coffee acidity offsets a apple-tinged lager sweetness, hints of cherry and yeast backing up cocoa and a slightly burnt undertone. Mouthfeel is off, too thin to support the style, but this seems to be a common trait among Max Lager offerings. Decent.

Imaena (2359) - Maputo, MOZAMBIQUE - FEB 15, 2015
Draught. This was a disappointment. It lacked the essential roasty but light profile I was looking for.

3.5
daknole (11402) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - JUL 16, 2014
Dark brown pour, small beige head. Roasted grain, hops, earthy flavors, hint of caraway.

2.5
Itzjerm (3126) - Taft, Tennessee, USA - JUL 3, 2014
Bitter dark burnt grain flavor not very special. Hopped more than expected. Thin fading head ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

jtclockwork (17284) - , New Jersey, USA - FEB 10, 2013
Draft backlog from brewpub. 400th DO/no label beer rating. Pours black. Nose and taste of light coffee, toasted black malt, light smoke and roast. Lighter side of medium body.

Westmeister (2127) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - JAN 31, 2012
Draft. Brown/black pour. Aroma of watered down roasted malts, coffee, some smoke. Taste is light sweetness with a decent hop bite and some roast. Ok.

3.3
Goodgrief (2059) - Middletown, Delaware, USA - NOV 15, 2010
Dark pour, nice head and really good lacing. Funky aroma...lagerish and a bit unpleasant. Lots of chocolate flavor, obviously...was described by the bartender as a chocolate lager. Some sourlike lactic flavor, which I hate. Okay.

3.5
badlizard (5533) - Berkeley, California, USA - JUN 22, 2010
Dark brown with a fizzy tan head. Chocolate and roasted grain aroma and taste with a smooth caramel finish.

3.3
unclemattie (4406) - Georgia, USA - APR 29, 2010
Tap. Dark brown / black color. Aroma of roast. Flavor of woody hop. Finishes with a big roasted grain character. Light bodied. Hints of bubblegum hidden in the roast. Light bodied.

3.6
decaturstevo (6343) - decatur, Tennessee, USA - MAR 9, 2010
Black pour with creamy tan head and lace. Light chocolate and coffee. Chocolate, roasted malt, with a good malt bitter. A tad thin but good carbonation.
