What can you say about this award winning beer. Chocolate, coffee...pours thick and dark like espresso. One of my favorite beers. If you like Avery’s Yeti or Lagunitas Espresso Stout this one is for you. I wish I could buy this in cans or bottles! Cybercat (5961) - Georgia, USA - FEB 21, 2014
Comes out of the tap a rich coffee brown with a decent buttery-tan head. Scrumptious aroma has vanilla, roast malt, coffee, semi-sweet chocolate and toffee notes. Gets me salivating like one of Pavlov’s dogs! Flavor delights with coffee, vanilla, roast malt, toffee and subtle molasses notes. Texture is fairly firm and quite fizzy. Delicious almost to the max! platzap (5) - Georgia, USA - MAR 5, 2009 does not count

UPDATED: FEB 24, 2004 Surprisingly good. Black and totally opaque. Small tan head. Smoky, toasty aroma. Full and rich, it has a burnt toast, coffee, and some dark chocolate flavors, too. Well made and impressive. Sampled at the Great Atlanta Pub Crawl, 2004. nearbeer (5516) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - JUN 28, 2016
12 oz. on tap at the brewpub. Opaque ebony with a film of cream on top. Aroma of semi-sweet chocolate, caramel and espresso with cream. Flavors of chocolate, coffee, a hint of blackberry and toffee. Medium plus body is smooth with near-medium carbonation and a dessert beer slant, but never gets sticky.

I was quite impressed with Max Lagers. This one sloooowly poured a dark black with a tan head. Very thick bodied. Flavor was chocolate, coffee, mocha, and oatmeal. Yet another great beer on the Atlanta pub crawl! CaptainCougar (7133) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - MAR 3, 2004
Pours a thick oily robust black with a dense tan head. Has a rich chocolatey mocha aroma with some hop presence. Body starts sweet with a dry coffee bean finish and caramel malt throughout. Good balance, but could be a bit thicker. Overall a very nice beer though, and one that IMO is more than 6% abv ;) SSSteve (4006) - - SEP 3, 2011
Draft after dragon con parade at restuarant. Black with nice creamy brown head. Good lacing. Nose is milk chocolste. Taste has a good milk chocolate flavor with a faint hop bitterness. Palate is creamy and full. MrRomero (1976) - Nolanville, USA - FEB 22, 2004
Pours black with a tan head. This is very full bodied but still seems thin in the flavor. Somewhat oily mouthfeel. Nicely hopped. A nice beer. scoobyluv (511) - Asheville, North Carolina, USA - FEB 27, 2004
very dark color. thick creamy head. smooth, light chocolate taste. i usually hate stouts but i had some real winners during the crawl and this one was right up there.
