The looks of this beer are perfect for the style and just perfect for beer in general. The beer is pitch black, like really really dark. In strong light there is a rub red glow. The beer is to dark to say anything about the clarity. On top of the beer a lovely layer of soft light brown foam is formed. Foam retention is good. After a while a lovely creamy drape is left, so is some lacing on the glass.
The smell of the beer is a little bit milde, but it is good. I smell toasted barley, chocolate, coffee, a touch of liquorice, nice bitters and sweets. I also smell a hint of fruity bitter refreshing hops. Not bad.
The taste is heaven. It has nice toasted barley, giving touches of chocolate, caramel and coffee, being both sweet and bitter with a nice salty touch. There is also nice alcohol and refreshing and slightly sour hops. The beer is in an awesome balance. Great.
The palate of the beer is good. It has a full body, smooth texture and medium carbonation The finish is long and intense, with bitter touches of malts and a hoppy twist. Lovely.

Black, what’s in a name. Hoppy aroma, some coffee notes. More a stout than porter, although. Decent bitter coffee taste, some light coco tones. Great. (Utrecht 201603) caesar (7330) - Bunnik/Utrecht, NETHERLANDS - MAR 4, 2016
Tap @ Maximus, large sample. Hazy dark brown color, medium creamy head. Aroma of roast, some coffee, bit fruity, slight biscuit. Didnt notice any smoked components, more of a hoppy stout/porter. Soft bitterness, bit roasty, some sweet cookie. Velvety body, soft carbonation. Lovely stuff from tap. Like I mentioned before, a more hoppy stout.
