COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
As the British Empire expanded, English brewers added extra hops to keep beer fresh for increasingly long sea voyages. The beer on board the Mayflower shared this trait. Mayflower IPA puts a descendant’s twist on this style, with a powerful hop profile balanced by plenty of malt character. We use the freshest hops from the Pacific Northwest to give this beer its distinct, piney flavor and delightful, fruity aroma.

Bottle from Mayflower Compact Variety Pack, bought in P-Town, drank at home. Pours a hazy golden amber with a huge fluffy head. Aroma of pineapple juice. The taste is sweet with dank earthy hops. Plenty of tropical fruit flavors as well. Lightly hopped, barely enough to be categorized an IPA.

Tap. Aroma pine and citrus notes but not as pungent as some beers with west coast hops. Pours amber gold with thin white top and broken lace. Initial taste is lightly sweet with some background saltiness. There is a pleasant malt backbone here that textures the shift to a medium bitter finish. medium body, soft carbonation, thin feel, mean that it is a good IPA that I won’t remember

Yellow-orange with small white head. Aroma citrus, grass. Medium body. Moderately bitter, floral and citrus hops with some malt sweetness in the background. Straightforward, decent enough.

Bottle pour into nonic pint glass from One Stop Market. Aroma is strong malty base with fruit, hints of pine and herbs. Appearance is cloudy golden yellow (large bits of sediment in suspension) with 1/2 finger-width white head with poor retention and small sudsy lacing. Taste is front half sweet malt, pine, fruit, and 2nd half light bitter. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with slick texture, average to lively carbonation with bitter finish. Overall, above average except for the appearance.

Bonne IPA Americaine; bien meilleure fraîche "on tap" car les houblons et les aromates d’agrumes sont beaucoup plus présente.

APPEARANCE- Bright yellow, almost chartreuse! Excellent head off the draft that dissipates quickly leaving behind beautiful lacing footprint. NOSE- Floral hop, through & through. FLAVOR- exactly what you’d expect from the first whiff. Flavorful and well balanced, but focusing on the floral/citrus hop varieties. NOTES- Good, but not unique. Solid drinker.

Like their porter, this is just a good solid example of the style. No surprises, but that's ok. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
