12oz can. Small brown head atop dark cola brown body. Aroma is moderately sweet, roast/coffee, caramel, some earthy, light rye, bittersweet chocolate. Taste is moderately sweet, coffee/caramel, some earthy/roasty, light bittersweet chocolate. Light-medium body, light sticky, acidic.

Bottle from Meditrina. Black with ring and a little lace. Roasted burnt coffee chocolate earthy aroma with a hint toasted oat tang. Very roasted chocolate coffee with surprisingly little fruitiness and oaty cereal grains with robust bitter earthy ashy finish. Medium light oily body. Pretty good. Lots of lingering burnt oaty cereal.

Bought this on sale, should have known better, it’s almost 4 months old. Poured into an oversized wine glass expecting lots of foam and a rich aroma, but got neither. My bottle was flat, no lacing, for whatever that’s worth (zero in my opinion). This is surprisingly thin bodied and has no complexity... of course, drinking it mostly flat hasn’t helped the experience at all either. Still, it makes my list of this year’s brews with ’winter’ in the name which have been uniformly disappointing.

Pours a dark brown from a bottle with a quickly disappearing minimal off-white head. Aroma is a chocolate ester, flavor is a slight dark chocolate with a little licorice. Palate is a little thin for a stout in my opinion. Okay beer.

Oatmeal stouts are my favorite style and this one doesn’t disappoint. The pour reveals a creamy brown head with good retention. The aroma is a spot on with molasses and chocolate notes present before every sip. Flavor-wise it is a great balance between the sweetness and the roasted characters of the malt. Overall a great brew.

Pours a deep burnt sienna with two fingers of khaki foam. Nose is oatmeal bread, sweet bakers cocoa and a hints of soft nutty coffee. Palate follows but is a touch thinner than expected. Wet oats, soft cocoa, bitter walnut, roasted grain, burnt toast. Soft dark and easy.
