Mazama Brewery, Draft: DRY! Very dry. I liked it, it didnít have overpowering sweet aftertaste like many porters have. Perfect carbonation and hop/malt balance. Not to thick...not too watery. This is good porter, the best I found in Corvallis. I would put up against a blind tasting of Deschutes Porter any day.
Dark brown with pillowy head. Dry roasty aroma with some bittering hops and light coffee in there as well. Flavor doesnít really show caramel as a lot of porters do, though thereís some bittersweet chocolate and coffee. Just a touch on the harsh side for a 5% beer, otherwise solid. Draft 8/21/16 (Low Bar Vancouver, WA)-Pours brown with some ruby tint. Aroma of coffee, roasted malt, and slight chocolate. Taste of the same. This medium bodied brew is well balanced and goes down smooth. 5000 (6862) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - OCT 2, 2016
Bottle:   Huge pillowy sandy head...wondering if this is another Porter on the verge of breaking down.   Soft roasty nose.   Like the Heathen before this, a soft acrid roastiness is on the tongue.   A bit more of a hop bite in this one, but still it seems a bit pedestrian.   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   A little chocolate presense tho, which makes it a bit better.   Middle of the road example... chinchill (4935) - South Carolina, USA - SEP 30, 2016
22 oz bottle retrieved from Oregon.
Pours clear but very dark brown, looking nearly black and opaque in the pint glass. A decent size beige head is semi-durable and leaves sheets of lacing upon tilting of the glass.
Loads of very dark roasted grain flavor with relatively light notes of burnt toast and char. Enough hops to add flavor and complexity while keeping this markedly more bitter than sweet.
O: a bold, hoppy porter. BuckeyeBoy (7528) - Boise, Idaho, USA - OCT 15, 2015

Mazama Pyroclastic Porter - bomber from Taniguchi shared by Mick. Pouring a deep reddish black with a tan head. The nose is strong cacao powder giving it a strong chocolate aroma. The taste is roasted barley, acrid & chocolatey. Solid but it doesnít really stick out from the heard... presario (4916) - Stampede City, Alberta, CANADA - APR 23, 2015

Tap at BCS. Lots of roast, chocolate and coffee, little spice. Taste has a decent prickle, pretty rich. Easy drinking though. Big taste for strength.

On tap at CBM Awajicho. Dark brown with some ruby highlights with a thick tan head. Light roasted coffee aromas with cacao nib and a touch of oats. Medium body with a smooth and slightly creamy mouthfeel. Great long dry finish. bpreo (2832) - Eugene, Oregon, USA - JAN 17, 2015
This is a fine Porter. Perfect flavor, one of the best I have had in a long time.
