Greetings from Bydgoszcz, Poland to all Beer Geeks and Hopheads around the world! Clareeses (160) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - MAY 21, 2017
On draft at Three Kings. Very faint bread-like and date aroma, pours opaque deep brown with minimal but frothy head and mild to moderate carbonation which makes it easy on the palate. Taste is initially of dates and prunes, finishes slightly alcoholic, yeasty and oaky. Not as sweet as a dubbel or quad (like I initially expected), and far more complex. This reminds me if a mashup between a brown ale, dubbel, and Saison. Interesting for the palate and flavorful. JorgeLee (2234) - Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 21, 2017
75cl bottle, Bignens Vins Balexert, shared with Thiru. Lovely bright reddish brown colour, thick slightly off white foam. Very flavoursome, sweet thick fruity malt, some spice, estery. Very high carbonation, fine bubbles. Bitter to balance but no more. All pretty damn tasty. gripweed57 (2861) - Hamilton Square, New Jersey, USA - MAY 20, 2017
From old tasting notes. Cloudy amber, copper color. Small bubbly beige head. Earthy malt nose with a yeasty jolt. Tangy, toasted malt flavor has an intense fruity character. Complex and flavorful. LeoN_ (57) - Freiburg, GERMANY - MAY 13, 2017
Sehr cremiger, ausgeglichener nachgeschmack. Dabei noch süffig, wie sein heller Bruder. Volltreffer!

Bière brune, goût agréable mais fade, léger goût café.
Ne reste pas en bouche

330 ml bottle, served in 0,3 l mug. Brown colour, nice white foam head. Raisin, coriander, dried fruit, brown sugar, herbs, caramel. Sweet-malty taste. Alcoholic warmth. Soft carbonated, medium body, oily texture. It seems to be the ’brown brother’ of the regular La Chouffe, but I like this one a bit more. Tony_Grayne (420) - Minsk, BELARUS - APR 29, 2017
330 ml bottle. Hazy dark brown brew. 2 finger fluffy off-white head. Stays not for long. Leaves not much lacing. Fizzy carbonation. Aroma: toffee, caramel, spicy yeast, herbs, dried banana, hops, phenols. Flavor is dark malts, nougat, spicy sweetness, hops, yeast. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel. Rich in taste and aroma. At a blind tasting I would bet that it’s a good Abbey Dubbel. Definitely I will try it again and again. vlada94 (224) - Nis, SERBIA - APR 18, 2017
slight hazy brown colour with thin bubbly head, aroma is caramel , coffee, hops , slightly roasted, taste is caramel sweet, hints of coffee and chocolate with perfect bitterness and carbonation. JaroMantic (69) - - APR 16, 2017
Bottle from Alko, Helsinki.
Pours murky dark brown with a quickly diminishing bubbly head. Carbonation seems surprisingly lively at first, but ceases rather rapidly. Aroma of raisin, caramel, malts and yeast. Taste is mostly sweet dark malts and yeasty spiciness. Caramel and dark fruits (raisin) provide nice background along with surprisingly bitter hoppiness. Body is a bit watery and finish a little blunt. Taste is a bit dull and palate lacking that creamy smoothness I so much appreciate in my belgian dark ales. Usually Chouffes are top notch, and based on some other users’ comments I read on Mc Chouffe I’m wondering whether I got some bad batch?
