Tap at Rattle n Hum. Pours a semi-clear brown with a large, off-white head. Good fruits in the nose, along with lightly roasted malts, booze and caramel. Sweet flavor, with great toffee, caramel, ripe fruit and scotch. Medium bodied with average carbonation. More sweetness in the finish, along with faint bitter notes. Good stuff.

Amber color, compact head. Nice aroma of caramel and chestnut honey. The body is thinning, malt and caramel flavor, low bitterness, mild nutty character; the oxidisation starts showing a bit.
Old.

Dark brown color. Chocolatey aroma and chocolate+caramel flavor, drier than expected. Good without thrills.

Dark red-amber color; persistent head. Very nice malt nose, and malt body, with some liquorice. Dryer than we may guess.

Getrunken beim 1. Test vom 30.12.2006, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 12,11,11,10,12,11 - 11,00

Bottle in bar at Grand Casselbergh Hotel, Brugge - 07/07/12. Clear amber/mid brown pour with a good lump of beige head. Sweet toffee malt aroma with subtle background spice. Taste as nose with a little dark fruit in the mix, allied to brown sugar - sweetish. Medium body/moderate carbonation - enjoyable pre-dinner beer!

75cl bottle from Belgium. Very red brown colour with beige thickish head. Lovely smell of rich malt and red berries. Some yeast and strong belgian ale aromas. Good in mouth. More rich malts and berries on the end. Lovely

A nice Belgian Scotch ale. Dark colour, with a large fluffy off white head atop. The nose was full of dark stone fruit, spice, and intrigue, the palette was lively and brought out the spicy side of things a bit more. A bit of caramel also going on I think.

UPDATED: NOV 2, 2009 Bottled. Brown beer with a beige head. Sweet and malty aroma. Warming, sweet and malty. Rating: 6-3-7-3-15-3.4. 051028

Bottle, 33cl. It’s a more or less clear beer, dark amber body topped by a beige, finger-thick head. Typical Belgo-sweet sugary nose with a good dash of alcohol and dried fruits. There’s roasted malts in there as well as a spiced note it seems. Sweet, malty flavor with dried fruits and roasted malts. A good alcohol warmth plays with my mouth and throat, and some bitterness lingers. Full-bodied and well carbonated. The finish is lasting and maybe a bit warm for this beer, but overall I really enjoy it. Well worth a revisit or two. 091102
