330ml bottle. Attractive appearance; dark brown hue with ruby highlights, thick large foamy tan head quickly diminishes leaving good lacing. Pleasant aromas; moderate heavy malty - chocolate, coffee, roasty toasty slightly burnt malt, toffee, leather, smoke. Tastes great; moderate heavy bitter, moderate sweet. Smooth palate as promised, medium to full body, velvety texture, light carbonation, dry bitter-sweet astringent finish. I have to say that I have many porters better than this but for a supermarket available beer this is really good.

A pretty decent dark beer, with nothing surprising, but nothing wrong. Its a really well balanced beer with a good dry finish

330ml bottle - the only saving grace on the Macro-pedestrian beer list of a restaurant I dined at in Mt Maunganui recently. Black color with good tan head. Roasted & Chocolate malts aroma. Medium bitterness followed by roasted body and finish. Nice.

330ml bottle into schooner glass. Faint cocoa nose, a little fruit. Mahogany red/brown beer with solid creamy head. Laces well. Fine constant carbonation. Light body. Touch of honey in the flavour. Short finish is pleasantly bitter with honey/malt notes. Easy drinking porter.

Nice and dark. Not much foam. A bit of a sour hit. Refreshingly different from all the IPAs out there

Very dark brown, near black and opaque. Khaki head that is minimal. Aroma of nuts, chocolate, oak, and plums. Walnut, leather, chocolate, coffee, prune. Medium body. Slightly spicy finish.

I was actually pretty impressed with this beer. Their other ales are good but this dark beer was a cut above. Very smooth for a porter with decent chocolate overtones and subtle bitterness. Full flavour and a nice toasted malt flavour. Very good and will definitely have again.

Pours dark brown with a small tan head that fades quickly. Coffee and roasted malt aroma that come though in the taste too, although with a slight coffeeish bitterness. Quite thin in body. Cant help but think it would be a better beer with more malt backbone. Good but not great.

Dark brown color, with bright brown reflections. Tiny slightly off-white head. In aroma - cold coffee, honey, blueberries and bit ash-ish. In taste its almost completely different. Almost all the fruity and sweet notes are gone. Now its much more coffee front. Has this coffee sourness as well with a bit of chocolate, and caramel melted in it. Bitterness is rather small. Although its rather dry, does feel like its sweet in the end. Feel more like porter-ish beer or even tmave, than stout which bartender told me it supposed to be.

Opaque black hue with a relatively quickly dissipating beige head. Pleasant but minor aroma with notes of dark roast and chocolate, vanilla and caramel. Mid bodied and rather creamy. Initial taste is dark roast and cocoa which immediately progresses into a delicious amalgamation of vanilla, honey and caramel as well as the aforementioned chocolate and roast, concluding with a slightly dry finish. Quite nice.
