Bottle, sent by b3shine (thanks a lot Beau!) and shared with phantomhennes, heavylaevy, and TvM. Lovely deep purple hue, medium to heavy viscosity. Big, juicy blackberry/black current aroma and flavour, sweet honey with undertones of spice and beeswax. Sticky with a jammy sweetness, but the fruit is bright and lends a compulsive drinkability that is dangerous at 12%. Complex and delicious. b3shine (9027) - Indiana, USA - JUN 29, 2015
750 ml bottle to stemmed McClure’s. I think this is technically a cider with honey added, not a mead, as it’s only 8.7% honey. Looks good; a translucent black raspberry with razor-thin bubbly lacing. Smells of cider, black raspberries, and honey with a bit of hops as well. Tastes like it smells, but richer, with a smooth medium full-bodied mouthfeel. Good stuff. queenholly (3623) - South Whitley, Indiana, USA - APR 8, 2013
Bottle from winery. Blackberry, apple, honey and spicy floral aroma - very rich and complex - I wanted to sniff at it as much as I wanted to drink it. Deep rich plum/blackberry color. Flavor was exactly what the nose promised - sweet ripe blackberry, honey, and a lovely spicy floral flavor. Full rich body, very soft carbonation, and slightly dry finish. McClure’s calls this a cider, but it seems much more like a mead. Either way, it was wonderful .. rich, complex, difficult to stop drinking.. which at 12% was dangerous!
