2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Well, why have a 70 if they have 80? Some pubs don’t...that’s why you would have a 70
On tap, 1/2 pint, Jolly Judge, Edinburgh (9 Jun 2016), malty, vegetable aroma, amber with a thin creamy head and good lacing, malty, woody, caramel, oily, soft carbonation, sour resiny aftertaste. nihtila (3639) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - AUG 21, 2015
Keg. Pours clear ruby. Nose is grain, butter, light fruits. Taste is quite plain, light berriåes and fruits, grainy malts. MalcolmTucker (924) - SCOTLAND - MAY 30, 2015
Drinking this reminds me of the time when I used be partial to a few pints of 70 back in the old days. A big standard keg bitter is the same vain as John’s Smiths or best. Additional points for nostalgia. chinchill (4995) - South Carolina, USA - MAY 2, 2015
On tap at Feuars Arms in Kirkcaldy Fife.
Remarkably creamy and durable head over a brown body with excellent clarity. Amazing creamy lacing.
Aroma dominated by English hops.
Medium carbonation; Near medium body
Very good balance. Slightly bitter by the finish.

Keg tap at the Hole in the Wall, Dumfries. Tawny brown with a sizeable creamy head. Smells of very little: a bit of plummy/appley sweetness with some malt. Taste is pleasant enough - a fruitcake malt unless dominates - but again shockingly slight. Not a lot to this beverage at all really.

On tap at the Parlour Leith. Had two pints of this as there was nout else. Pours amber. Toffee malts aroma...just. Taste not doing much. Thin. Some maltiness and a little fruity hops. Thin and too bland. Why ! Stuu666 (13395) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - MAR 11, 2015
Cask at a pub in Rothesay. Pours copper amber, nose is full toffee, floral, taste is more dull toffee, dry, thin.

Keg at Jolly Judge. It pours clear amber with a thick white head. The nose is soft, grainy, brown caramel, raisin and sultana. The taste is smooth, creamy, toasty grain, wood, touch of pepper and leather with a dry finish. Medium body, fine carbonation and foamy mouth-feel. Quite superior to the caledonia best I had earlier today... Good looking a good mouth-feel. allmyvinyl (10613) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - APR 8, 2014
Keg at the Royal Hotel, Stromness. Pours clear red brown, thick white head. Light malty aromas, sweet taste, watery finish. Ok. jamesie1857 (2150) - Sheffield, South Yorkshire, ENGLAND - JAN 12, 2014
Keg at The Shed, 7 Lady St, Annan DG12 5DA back in 24 March 2012 - Russet red body, thick white head. Nose is faint malts and caramel, taste is a metallic cheap canned bitter note. Thin mouthfeel. Another uninspiring one.
