Copper colour, no head to talk about. Caramel and nuts in the aroma. The flavour is smooth and malty with traces of caramel liquorice, with a smoked finish. A nice Scottish Ale.

Keg at the Laurieston, Glasgow. Light to mid brown with a massive cream-coloured head. Light chocolate malt notes on the nose with some Caramello. Pleasant if unengaging bittersweet taste. A touch of overripe citrus in the aftertaste. Not my cup of tea but I’ve had worse.

On tap at The Bay Owl Inn and Restaurant. Pours amber with beige head. Caramel, malt, bit nutty. Light to medium bodied. Bit bland and watery, some metallic notes.

Keg at the jolly judge. Pours clear golden amber, nose is grassy, toffee, taste is sweet, creamy, toffee, nutty.

Draft at the Applecross Hotel Scotland. Pours a clear ruby/caramel with a half finger of creamy white head that coats the glass. Aroma has smooth notes of caramel, mild dark fruits, and a bit of fruity eaters. Taste is balanced with great notes of caramel, bread, slight bread and roast, and a very slightly fruity bitter ending. Medium body with a low carbonation. Clean and a touch watery in the mouth with a dry finish. Overall a great beer after a long highland drive. Nice caramel with a soft carbonation.

Keg at Thomson’s, Edinburgh. It pours deep amber-brown with a medium creamy beige head. The nose is toasted brown bread, creaminess, earth and leather. The taste is creamy, toast, watery, earth, very mild bitterness and brown bread with a short, dry finish. Light-medium body, fine carbonation and foamy mouth-feel. Looks good and mouth-feel is decent, not much taste though... Fine for chasing a whisky.

Full pint from keg, outdoor at the County Hotel Bar in North Berwick. Lasting nitro creamy, white head. Clear dark amber coloured body. Poor lacing. Malty nose with a touch of resin. Mild malt accented taste of caramel and dark fruits. Malty ending with distant bitterness. Medium to thin bodied. Ok (08.08.2013).
