Shared by the ever generous OhioDad at C-bus tasting #4. Tangy and slightly bitter roasted malt aroma flows from the black body with no head. Full palate that has an oily, coating mouthfeel. Tangy flavor which is slightly sweet and vinuous. Probably past its prime at this point. sliffy (2040) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - NOV 29, 2006
Bottle shared by OhioDad: Black with very little head. Aroma, dark fruits, chocolate, and some cardboard. Flavor, prunes and other dark fruits, coffee, chocolate, there was a bit of a tangy aftertaste, medium to full bodied. Good but I think it was showing it’s age a bit. spector (906) - Lancaster, Ohio, USA - NOV 22, 2006

750ml bottle via trade with slob! - Thanks bert for this one I thought i’d never get to try! - Shared at Columbus Tasting 4.0 - Pours Black without much head but enough to leave a little lacing. Aromas of coffee, chocolate, and lots of dark fruits. Flavor is coffee, chocolate, dark fruits, and lots of vinous notes. Some raisin type of sourness there that was tough to put a finger on... Oily palate with good body and light carbonation.. TomDecapolis (4636) - Milton, Delaware, USA - OCT 9, 2006
KSBF 2006 from a bottle the brewer brought along that he had just recently found. Pours a dark black with a dark tan foamy/bubbly head. Aroma of caramel, some roast, chocolate and buttery. Flavor along the same lines with hints of coffee, very smooth and roasty along with coconut, vanilla and still some of that buttery thing going on. Still enjoyed it though.

RBSG 2006 - DC Grand Tasting Lineup Styles (2016) - Lincoln Park, Michigan, USA - SEP 25, 2006
Black, tan head, nice lacing. Nose of sweet plum, roasted chocolate, sweet coffee and alcohol. Finishes sweet and balanced with tart and astringency. The flavor is like a mix of chocolate covered coffee beans and raisins.
Bottle quite a nice surprise as an extra in trade from BuckNaked. Black with short lived tan head. Aroma is all chocolate up front, as it warms burnt coffe grains start to take over. Chocolate dominates the flavor at first, turns to roasted grain through the middle. Finish is all bitter coffee. Decent overall, but w/o the huge coffee character would have scored much higher for me. ryan (3185) - Beltsville, Maryland, USA - AUG 17, 2006
RBSG 06. Black body with tan head, lasting cover. The aroma is roast, chocolates, raisins and vanilla. The flavor is milk chocolate, roast and golden raisins. The mouthfeel is soft and smooth. SledgeJr (3577) - Omaha, Nebraska, USA - AUG 16, 2006
Sampled at RBSG 2006- Grand Tasting. Vintage 2004/05. Pours coal black with a dark beige head. Very grainy. Husks of grain. Husky aroma. Really wild stuff to be able to produce such a freshly cracked smell. Awesome typical stour infusions of flavor such as coffee molasses and roasted malt, but there’s an intensity beyond these things that puts a bit of sherry and coffee liquor in your mind. Delicious.
