2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at brewpub. Reddish-black color, with beige head. Aroma is light, sweet, chocolate, a little roasty. Light in flavor, somewhat sweet. Very light bitterness, low carbonation. Relatively thin, not chewy. Dry finish.
Pours a deep dark brown color with mahogany edges and a 1.5 finger mocha head that quickly settles into a thick, lasting ring. Streaks and splotches of soapy lacing left behind.
Slightly smokey roasted malt aroma with a nice balance of sweet and burnt malt notes. Hints of oatmeal, toffee, gourmet espresso bean, toast and nut countered by sweeter chocolate notes. Kind of tame though for the style.
Full bodied with a dry roasted malt presence that’s countered by chocolate malt sweetness. Strong oatmeal character with burnt toast and deeply roasted coffee bean flavor followed by dark chocolate malt, toffee and hazelnut. Subtle lactic presence smoothes things out but it’s pretty dry/roasted and somewhat acrid. Subtle alcohol sweetness towards the finish but there’s little to no heat. Easy to drink but could use a little sweetness. A touch too dry for my preference. katrinaez (2138) - norristown, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 8, 2014

Dark, subtle roastiness on the nose, almost light & quite drinkable. Solid effort but definitely more oatmeal then milk. Leafs93 (2305) - Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 15, 2012

On tap as Oatmeal Stout. Pours a dark brown with thin light tan head. Nose is light with notes of roasted malts and tangy sweet anise. Light notes of oatmeal, roasted malts underneath, tons of boozy anise almost jager like. Light body, soft on the palate, strong carbonation, prickly finish. j12601 (12973) - Poughkeepsie, New York, USA - JUN 14, 2011

This poured a darker brown color with a beige head. Aroma was light bakers chocolate, medium roasted malts> flavor was a bit more roasted than expected for an oatmeal stout, very smooth and drinkable though. decaturstevo (6339) - decatur, Tennessee, USA - JUN 10, 2011
Brown black pour with tan head and lace. Aroma of toasted malt and light chocolate. Toasted malt, light chocolate, very light coffee, and a good malt bitter. Medium bodied but a tad fizzy for me.
