Big thanks to yourefragile for sharing this one. Served in a McKenzie cervoise. Nice oak and slight oxidation. Slightly tart with mild cherry notes. Slightly phenolic in the finish.

Bottle shared by Sean, thanks! Pours a clear amber orange with a light brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a real nice oak note with a light dry yeast backed by an earthy sweet grains. Pours murky crimson orange amber with a nice light tan head, bit of a gusher when opened. The aroma is delicious sweet notes of Belgian yeast and a bit of funky citrus. The flavor has sweet Belgian yeast notes as well as some funky saison flavors, almost citrus characteristic notes, and some spiciness as well. Delicious funky Belgian ale.

Pours a cloudy orange amber with a small short-lived head that leaves no lacing.
Aroma is very earthy with a combination of grassy notes, lemons, and a good bit of bretty funk. There is a light toasted cracker character in the background with oak, wine and spices.
The taste is sweeter than the aroma with more light fruits like pears and apricots. The lemon zest is still there with Belgian yeast spiciness and the finish of fresh oak and vanilla. Little bit of earthiness but less than aroma.
Mouthfeel is effervescent and bubbly with tons of oak dryness and spices on the palate.

How: Bottle 750ml. Consumed about 9 months after the beer release
The look: Cloudy dark orange topped by short-lived off-white head
In long: Nose is spicy and rustic. Taste has spices upfront, a lot of spices. I won’t even begin to list all the spices I noted. Suffice to say it went from the usual cinnamon and friends and also has tacos-like spices and why not some powder horseradish. Also some dried citrus skin, banana peels, hard candies, lots of plain cookies. Carbonation is fizzy. The beer uses brett and I would have not guessed it. I could feel a light rustic character but I would have never guessed the base a brett beer. Overall very dry, grainy and harsh. Another big 750ml I downed by myself even though I didn’t really like the beer. There’s a fine line between being a beer lover and being a drunk. I don’t remember crossing it. I was probably drunk at the time.

UPDATED: MAY 10, 2014 Bottled shared by thirdeye, thanks Chad. Pretty solid Belgian strong ale. Stronger notes of the raw wood, a little spice and maybe a little acidic bite too. Maybe a little raw.
Update with 10/2009 bottle aged 3 years now. Clear copper color with a medium tan head that disappears but lots of carbonation. Big aroma that has lots of barrel funkiness and makes your mouth water like a sour. The flavor is vinous with some strong booziness. Time has helped a little but still fairly one dimensional.
