Pours a dark chesnut brown, almost black color thats completely opaque with a one finger beige head that slowly fades into thick, lasting ring. Streaks of soapy lacing left behind.
Slightly smokey, robust malt aroma with a sweet sappy presence balancing things our. Smoked malt with roasted coffee bean, oatmeal and dark chocolate followed by a subtle lactic presence and some sweet syrup.
Full bodied with subtle roast and a nice balance of robust malt, lactic cream and syrupy sweetness. Not as roasted/smokey as the nose suggests but there’s some deeply roasted malt flavor along with dark chocolate, toast and oatmeal. The roast is countered by lactic cream, silky chocolate and syrupy sweetness. Wouldn’t know it was molasses but I’m picking up the sweetness. Extremely dry, missed not having the bitterness. Roasty with hint of coffee and chocolate. Mediocre. Damico (3146) - Royersford, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 22, 2014
Pours thick unclear brownish black with a beige head. Aroma I sight creamy milky coffee and roasted malts. Flavors bring delicious creamy coffee as well on a full body, so nice. ROGUE (2216) - Lewes, Delaware, USA - AUG 9, 2013
On tap at brewpub. Pours a deep black color with ruby highlights and a small head that dissipates quickly. Aroma of rich chocolate, molasses, dark fruit, and creamed coffee. Taste follows the nose with forward sweet maltiness followed by a slight bitter roastiness that breaks up the sweetness through the finish. Full body, medium carbonation, thick, rich, and creamy. On tap. Dark pour, molasses noticeable in the nose. Creamy on the tongue, chocolate and coffee flavors noticeable with a slight lactic finish. The creamy mouthfeel did it. Good beer.

Roasty & watery sum this one up. Smells great & pours well. I like the roastiness up front but it finishes to thin. Still pretty tasty! pilgrimoutlaw (888) - Wayne, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 15, 2012
On tap at Devon Brewpub. Pours opaque black with tan head. Chocolate, coffee, nuts, roast, oatmeal, molasses. Aroma is moderately sweet and mildly bitter. Full, smooth body. Really nice.
