On tap at the McKenzie Brew Pub. Poured a medium and cloudy golden color with a smaller sized white head. Musty aromas of yeast, cloves and lemons. Tastes of yeast, bananas, cloves and citrus. Ended with a light tart lemon taste. hopscotch (11451) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - JUN 26, 2005
Growler in the parking lot after Old Dominion Beer Festival 2005... Clear, light yellow ale with a small, creamy, white head. Smells of grass, lemon peel and straw. Perfectly balanced flavor with sweet corn and lightly tart lemon. Obviously filtered with no notes of banana or clove. Short, crisp, clean finish. More like an American wheat than a German Hefe. Not great, but refreshing. Thanks go out to BuckNaked for sharing the growler. DocLock (11191) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 23, 2004
Pours turbid yellow/gold, with medium fizzy head. Aroma of citrus, hops, cloves, banana, bubblegum. Tastes the way it smells, with more coriander in the finish. Medium mouthfeel. egajdzis (6833) - Pennsburg, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 7, 2005
Poured a cloudy yellow color with a small, white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of banana, bubblegum, and light cloves. Taste of yeast, bubblegum, tart wheat, and more cloves as well. Thin, oily mouthfeel.

Had this at the brewhouse in Melvern. Good hefe appearance. Cloudy and strw colored. Interesting slightly sour aroma. Some gumball flavors and a little tart on the tongue without being overly fruity. This stuff is not sweet, nor is it overly spiced. It does have the essence of a good hefe without being over the top. Not overwhelming in any one of the attributes which make a hefe. Some banana and very little bitterness can be detected. Decent rather friendly brew. michael-pollack (4959) - King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 8, 2004
UPDATED: AUG 15, 2008 Re-rate; Draught: Same as prior rating except:
Hazy, not cloudy. Flavor much different and less complex, with no bready malts etc. Pronounced metallic flavor. Quite sweet though too. Thin texture.
Draught (6/8/04): No head. Cloudy, hazy light-yellow body. Good lacing. Grainy, bready malts with spicy citrus, orange, lemon hops. Also tasted of banana, pepper, and coriander. Easy to drink. Lively carbonation. A bit sweet, but not undrinkable. Overall, the best beer I had here. 8/4/8/4/15=3.9 User37895 (3085) - - JUN 3, 2006
Ah, not a bad beer... actually pretty enjoyable. But, about on par for the hefe family. This beer poured a pale cloudy color with almost a fluorescent green tint. The aroma was clove-like and somewhat citrusy. In terms of flavor, the spices were minimal beyond the mild cloves and the citrus was most detectable. The flavor was somewhat weak and any hint of bananas was absent. Mouthfeel was light. I’d have it again, but not if it were lined up with some other great hefes on draft. sloth (2957) - Ceciltucky, Co., Maryland, USA - JUL 19, 2004
served in a 12 oz pils glass. Medium sized white head, fair retention and lace. Hazy light gold color.Good Hefe nose, bananna, clove and malt. Light body, good carbonation and creamy mouthfeel. Bananna flavors are subdued but there, not as much as i like. Good wheat malt , toasty flavors with a mild spiceyness. Nice Hefe. obxdude10 (2392) - Pottstown, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 9, 2004
Not a bad wheat beer, very cloudy golden color, nice fluffy white head, a nice mix of banana & clove in the flavors, a bit of a kick of spice in the finish, nicely balanced, very drinkable
