11th October 2008. GABF. The may have intended to call this ’Saison De Luxe’ but it was presented as ’Vautor De Luxe’ here. Cross checked with the GABF 08 brochure. Hazy gold beer. Dry palate. Some wheaty flavours and some sourness. Typical saison aromatics but more so. A really full on Saison! bu11zeye (13029) - Frisco (Dallas), Texas, USA - JAN 27, 2009
(Draught, labeled Vauteur de Luxe with 9.5% abv) Pours a lightly hazy yellow body with a medium white head. Aroma of lemon, floral, grass, coriander, and pepper. Flavor of hops (floral, grass, citrus, herbs), pepper, and Belgian yeast. hopdog (12673) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 19, 2008
750ml bottle. Poured a medium to deeper and hazy golden color with an averaged sized white head. Aromas of citrus (lemony), doughy, floral, fruity, earthy, and some honey. Tastes of citrus, spices, the same doughiness, sweet apples, and earthy. On the sweeter side. Alcohol content well hidden. hopscotch (11159) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - MAR 22, 2009
UPDATED: MAR 26, 2009 Bottle... C&P’sLYFO Throwdown... Cloudy pear-colored ale with a small, creamy, white head. Great retention. Yeasty, fruity aroma offers notes of warm bread, light clove, mild pear and a whiff of smoke. Medium to full-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Pale grain sweetness; good, herbal bitterness. Lengthy, medium bitter, bone dry finish. Thanks to Dickinsonbeer for bringing this seasonal down with him from New Jersey! * * Video = http://homepage.mac.com/maltajo/RATEBEER/iMovieThe

Another interesting Saison by McKenzie. JaBier (8027) - Capital City, Ohio, USA - MAY 22, 2009
Sampled at the Ohio group tasting on DLD eve ’09. Cloudy yellow/orange color with a thin off-white head. Aroma of yeast, fruit and pancakes. Slightly peppery yeast flavor with a bit of hop. egajdzis (6613) - Pennsburg, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 19, 2008
Poured a hazy dark golden color with a medium sized, white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of floral hops, earthy yeast, coriander, vanilla, honey, and citrus fruits. Taste of citrus fruits, honey, toffee malts, skunky hops, earthy yeast, light pepper, and a spicy alcohol finish. A nice saison, but if this is the second coming of the Avec Les Bons Voeux, it needs to dry out some to be that fantastic. Glouglouburp (6103) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - MAR 20, 2009
In short: A weird floral and slightly acidic semi-wild blonde Saison.
How: Bottle at post-EBF 2009 tasting. From Dickinsonbeer. Paul’s the man. I forget if it was a brewery bottle or a hand-bottle
The look: Cloudy dark yellow body topped by a large white head
In long: Nose is semi-wild and very floral with a garden flowers/dandelions character that reminds me of the not too fucked-up bathes of Fantôme Pissenlit. Taste is the other way around, it reminds me a fucked-up Fantôme Pissenlit batch, like the one that was available late 2008. Weird mix of cheesy and wild yeast, citrus & tangerines, doughy bread, garden flowers/dandelions and citric/acidic notes lemon + green apples. Objectively speaking I think this was a problematic bottle but what can I say I like that type of “wild” beers. The Dupont signature does show up but this is a Saison Dupont gone bad. But Dupont yeast is to beer what gratuitous nudity is to movies, it makes an ordinary offering interesting and I never get enough of it.
