Copper-orange with decent head. Nice hoppy aroma. Decent hoppy character and grapefruity substantialness (is that a word?). Very good. 3fourths (9367) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - DEC 31, 2003
UPDATED: APR 30, 2013 Murky orange. Good malty thick palate with a spicey hop bite at the end. A good NW pale ale, which seems to be a style of it’s own... all similar to Full Sail Pale Ale. Big sour peach and grapefruit finish. Very good. I’ve had it when it was poor and I’ve had it when it was fantastic. Aubrey (3516) - Bellingham, Washington, USA - NOV 17, 2003
Cloudy amber. Light and creamy texture. Malts were light and slightly sweet (cookie). Flowery hop aromas and flavors; mild bitterness. Rather acidic and a little astringent. Drinkable, but it didn't do much for me at all. DaSilky1 (2608) - San Diego, California, USA - NOV 16, 2003
UPDATED: NOV 18, 2003 sorta deep amber color..thin head..sweet and candyish with a malty profile and maybe a tad tangy at times..but..boring nonetheless. Reid (2673) - Salem, Oregon, USA - NOV 15, 2003
Ok had to go home to the wife..but bought this to go in the 22 oz bottle ( brown).
Very nice looking ale , when poured carefully ( this seems to be unfiltered, loads of yeast at the bottom of the bottle)..nice light brownish almost glows small but persistant off white head..nice carbonation.
Nice aroma of malts hits my nose fast and stays..its fresh at leat.
Taste is very balanced indeed..first there is the sweetness of the malts then the hops appear suddenly to give bitterness..very good.
Very good on the palaye smooth .
Very drinkable..i could drink quite a few in a sitting.

Hazy copper color, sweet malts but the hops win out. This is just nice and balanced. OldGrowth (3665) - the Containment Area, North Carolina, USA - OCT 6, 2003
Draft @ Kennedy school: Sweet hops nose. Hazy amber color. Little head.Lite roast carmel flavor. Medium bitter finish. Very drinkable. GreatStelle (363) - Chico, California, USA - JUL 24, 2003
Oregon beers are begining to impress me. Hammerhead is no exception. The pale ale is very balanced. The hoppieness is delightful. beerguy101 (5364) - Newark, California, USA - JUL 23, 2003
Medium copper color, slightly cloudy. Medium head. Aroma is floral hops and a touch of malts. A medium bodied pale ale. Malts are nutty and slightly sweet. Hops are grapefruity and floral. Nicely balanced. Sweet, but with a nice hop bite. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Finish is slightly bitter with a touch of floral hops. microdyke (360) - Portland, Oregon, USA - MAY 28, 2003
An amber hue with a white diminished head. The aroma is like a sweeter grapefruit juice. The flavor is hoppy with grapefruit and good bitterness. Nice body.
