COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Spring is in full bloom, and its song plays the soundtrack to a beautiful season. Wanting to add our instrument to the collaboration, the McMenamin’s brewers were inspired to produce Jam Session ISA. A light and easy drinking beer that embodies the spirit of spring as it fades into summer. We jazzed up this session ale with an ensemble of hops and arrangement of malts. Brewed in the style of an India Session Ale, or Indie Session Ale (to avoid being mainstream), you’ll find a brew that has low alcohol levels and full flavor.

Chinook hops are the bass beat providing a driving pulse of citrus notes. Sterling and Centennial hops play off each other creating a harmony of floral tastes and aromas to round out this symphonic trio of hop flavor. We have used a composition of grains to provide balance to this masterpiece. Golden Promise and Premium 2-Row malts create the backdrop to this subtly sweet performance, while Vienna and Crystal 15 provide hint of style and color to the vibe.

Being an India style, expect our trio of hops to be the front man of this band; providing strong riffs of floral, pine and a beat of citrus. A majority of the hops are added in late additions, which provides full flavors and aromas without the bittering astringency. Whether you’re a hard-rock’n IPA drinker or a classical golden ale drinker, you’ll find the essence and song of the season in every pint. Enjoy a Jam Session ISA and turn up the volume your day up to 11. A one, a two, a one, two, three, Cheers!

Fairly muddy, dull tan colour. Mellow hop nose is sort of orangey. Nice hop taste, though it’s also quite yeasty. Decent but definitely some sloppiness.

Draft pour pint at the Anderson School. Glowing golden yellow pour with a ton of foam head. Earthy, promising hop aroma. Flavor gives off a plastic, maybe leather like feature, slightly herbal, and some citrus in the finish. I feel like a good session IPA is difficult. This one has good qualities, but as an overall rating, I’d call it a slight miss.

Draught on June 26, 2015. At the brewpub (McMenamins Hillsdale) in Portland.
Cloudy golden color, white head. Bitter, hoppy, floral taste. Long bitter aftertaste. Fizzy mouthfeel, medium high dry bitterness. Floral hoppy scent.

On tap @ McMenamins Barley Mill. Slight hazed golden pour with white foam. Not a bad nose. Some lemon, tangerine, and a bit of grassy hops. Maybe some pine. There’s a very nice bitterness and some pine. Mild fruitiness and some pale malt. Not a bad beer. One of their better offerings.

(En fût au Zeus Cafe): Un liquide excessivement sec qui se voit assiégé par une meute d’agrumes pales et juteuses. L’amertume est franche, la buvabilité indélébile.

A good isa. Light yellow in color with small head. Nice lacing. Aroma is fruity an floral. Taste is grainy and a bit watery. A little weak on the hops but nice fruity flavour. An enjoyable isa. On tap at mcmenamins in bend. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draught in a flight at the Mill Creek brewpub. Pours a hazy copper color. Nose is earthy with some grass and sweaty feet coming off it. Taste is moderately bitter, but again tastes old with a smack of sweaty feet. Not at all good.

On tap at McMenamin’s Tavern and Pool - Pours bright golden with a white head. The aroma has lots of fruity / citrus / pine / zesty hops and some light dry malt in the back. It has a light crisp body with some husk and lively bright carbonation. The flavor starts off with light toasted malt, crackers, granola, zesty hops and some tropical notes. The finish is fruitier and adds spice and pine. Nice and easy drinking.

Nice and smooth, mellow bitterness. Pale golden in color with some mild hop bitterness. Good summer quaff.
