Over 55 pounds of hand-macerated, fresh, whole raspberries are used in every batch. Taste the original!

Bottle @ The Lets do a Chris O tasting. Pours pink, big cherry fruit nose, other than just some general fruit the taste is simple.

Draft at Sherwood location. Arrived looking like pink grapefruit juice,, cloudy and pale pink color with little to no head. Raspberry dominates aroma, flavor is crisp and wheaty with berry and fruit notes and hints of hop. Medium body and gentle carbonation. Not bad for a summer cooler.

Light, hazy golden pour. Small head and a little lace. Blended malts and raspberry. There goes the raspberries in the flavor. Not a lot else present. Fuzzy palate, almost like eating one of the berries. Good if you like raspberries... a lot.

Very light, not much alcohol. Fruity too. Again, beer from McMenamins is too carbonated.

jasonp (1581) - Ashburn, Virginia, USA - AUG 13, 2005
On tap at Ram’s Head location in Portland. Clear amber with a white head. Very light aroma of berries. Flavor is fruity (shocker) with notes of raspberry and some caramel. Moderately sweet, not much bitterness detected. Light bodied with a watery texture and moderate carbonation.

Aroma of fresh juicy raspberries. Appearance is not unlike a glass of pink grapefruit juice - cloudy and pink. Flavor is very thin - somewhat watery - slight raspberry flavor with a faint bitter finish. Tight carbonation. A very refreshing summer beverage, certainly not a hearty drink.

Thin, but also competing with a slew of other beers I had just finished, so I will give it that credit. Nice fruityness that had also to compete with the bittering and very thin body.

aroma of raspberry mildly sour taste with a slightly acidic palate not as bad as others make it out to be.

Tap. Hazy light-grapefruits (huh?? That’s what my rating sheet says anyway). Not much of an aroma: just light raspberries. This does carry into the taste but then fades into an undesirable finish. No bueno.

awaisanen (1304) - Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 19, 2008
From a 22oz Bottle. Purchased at the Kennedy School, 7/7/07. Pours a somewhat hazy, pale gold color with peach hues and a thin layer of quickly dissipating, wispy white head. A big raspberry juice nose leaps out of the glass right away, but as it warms, it starts to fade, revealing a grainy malt base. Some apple yeast character noticeable. Light bodied, softly carbonated mouthfeel with a gentle effervescence. Crisp, authentic raspberry flavors up front on the palate, but could use more intensity. This tastes like a raspberry Berliner Weiss sans the lactic acid. As such, the palate falls off quickly, leaving a light graininess to linger on the tongue.
