It has a nice amber color with oh so faint traces of head on the edges of the glass. Malty aroma. Malty/hoppy taste with the bitterness eventually winning in the end. beeryum (652) - Norcross, Georgia, USA - JUL 26, 2005
Bottle. Amber pour. Big caramel malt aroma. Caramel malts, with some nuttiness. Slight bitterness, that doesnt detract from the caramel malt. CamdenD (1197) - Madrid, SPAIN - JUL 17, 2005
Very surprising amber ale! Subdued and classy, like McNeill’s is, but a very interesting and compelling grassy aroma to this beer. Very impressive and very drinkable! Miguel (1181) - Saint-Ours, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 9, 2005
Du poivre et du poivre. Des arômes biens subtils en saveurs, mais présents en finale et long en bouche. Belle couleur ambrée avec une mousse en dentelle qui tient toujours. Malt bien présent et bien soutenu par le houblon. GonZoBeeR (3061) - ste-catherine, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 9, 2005

22 0z bomber. Hazy orange in color with a nice light tan head. American hoppy aroma with a nice touch of fruit. Fruity malty flavor. Well balanced beer. Flavor is balanced with american hops and maltiness. Nice beer. MaiBockAddict (1497) - Good Beer Bar Deprived, New Jersey, USA - FEB 25, 2005
22 oz bomber. hazy orange, light tan head. Hoppy (American) piney aroma with a touch of fruity malt. Flavor is balanced between American flavor hops and bitterness and gentle maltiness. This is a very good session beer and well made. Glad I did not get an infected bottle-purchased at Spirit Haus in Amherst. Odeed (1803) - Bakersfield, California, USA - FEB 20, 2005

My my, I do like the McNeill’s brews. Had a friend bring back a whole case of McNeill’s selections. Deep ruby, brown color. Floral, fruity aroma. Nutty, caramel malt flavor, with a nice hoppy counterpoint. Love the bitterness. Excellent balance. Might have to crack open another. Cheers! Thin frothy head. Creamy on top. Low carbonation. Nice hoppy aroma. Citrus, caramel and malts. Color is a dark orange/amber. Flavor is smooth and malty with a bit of roasted grains and more hops. Not complex but just very good. Nice long roasted finish. Slight hop bitterness. Very well balanced brew. I really like this stuff!
