Poured into an English pint glass, the appearance was a semi-burnt orange to red to brown color with a thin layer of white foaminess. Quickly dissipates. No lacing.
The aroma centers around caramel, toffee and nutty malts. Grassy and earthy hops. Sly peat, with a crisp English black tea to it.
The flavor was a decent earthy bitter to sweet profile. Some soft black tea. Black tea and caramel in the aftertaste. Sly crisp finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonation seems to hit decently but low, it’s good for the style.

This had a slight sweet/tartness that isn’t usual yet I loved. Deep and malty. Easy to drink. Really a great brew.

Poured from 22oz bottle. Pours a rich mahogany (like Ron Burgany’s office) with a fair amount of off-white head. Aroma is tons of smoked peat. The label has a funny drawing of a pair tough highlanders on it. Surprisingly fruity aroma, with some yeast too. It is sweet and malty all right, like a good SA should be. The noticeably fruity flavor conjures up thoughts of sweet cider and even sweet wine. There are some nice complexities around the edges too. Bomber. Poured medium amber with a short off-white head. The aroma picked up artificially-sweetened caramel and fruity notes with a definite sour kicker.. a touch smoky. The flavor was strong with sourness and apparent infection.. fruity and caramel sweetness at the core were overrun by the sours.. a pinch of smoked peat on the edges.. tacky sour fruits and residual sugars on the finish. Bottle. Dirty copper amber with thin head. Rich scent of caramel, toffee, bit of chocolate. First taste is overly sweet. Then there is a too strong sourness that melds into boozy marmelade. Something fishy in the tartan.
