30-12-2017; bottle; at home (bought at Saveur Bière, as part of their December 2017 discovery box). The looks of the beer are lovely. The beer is lovely dark. The colour is ruby red/reddish brown. It is so dark, that it almost looks black. On top of the beer there is a lovely layer of nice soft brown foam. Foam retention is average. After a while a thin drape is left, and some lacing is left on the glass. Nice. The smell of the beer is delicious. It is a lovely IPA with a nice extra malty note. The beer has some lovely zesty and piny hop aromas. It is a very pure hop note. I also smell some lychee and stone fruit. Lovely. Malts are also present. They give some notes of caramel and also just some clear malts. Lovely. The taste of the beer is very nice. It has some crisp malts, giving a bread note and some caramel. Hops are very zesty and filled with citrus, pineapple, pine, stone fruit, lychee. It is nice. It is surprisingly light for a dark beer like this. Lovely. I like it, just like you can expect from a Black IPA. The palate of the beer is nice. Medium body, smooth texture and medium carbonation. The finish of the beer is lovely. It as a nice fruity finish, filled with tropical fruits and piny hops, but also a touch of caramel malts. Lovely. I like it.

Deep black pour. Thick head. The nose is loaded with pine resin, dark roast and clean bitterness. There's a touch of fruit and a very assertive bitterness. Slight citrus and a heavy roast and bitterness. Solid BIPA.

Ysok02 (1957) - Mons, BELGIUM - OCT 1, 2017

Taste is fruity and slightly resinous hoppy as well as roasty, chocolately dark malty, notes of dark chocolate, flavoured dark chocolate, orange, mandarine, orange zest, a grassy-spicy hoppy touch of green onion; parallel oily and watery texture.
