COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Keg: Filtered.
Helles is the German word for ‘light’ as in light colour, and this golden coloured beer is typified by a refreshing piney, citrus hop aroma sitting atop a predominantly light malt accented palate.
The hop aromas and delicate malt flavours work together in perfect balance to produce a refreshing beer with a clean, crisp finish. The Hallertaur hop does all its work on the nose, meaning this is a beer with very low bitterness. An ideal companion to roast pork, light seafood pasta, goats cheese salad, or an apricot tatin.

From tap at Market porter. Pours clear and yellow with a small dense white head. Light cornish and bitter aroma. Flavour is light citric and bitter. Citric and bitter finish. Not a good helles compared to the german rolemodels.

From keg at The Dove Street Inn, Ipswich 4 May 08. Blond colored. A small filmy head. Modest metallic aroma. Soft mouthfeel. Modest flavor of malt and grass. Dry hoppy finish.

Half hellesbier served comfortably chilled from keg. Cloudy, straw coloured body. Thin, but lasting white head. Firm lacing on the glass. Grainy smell with hints of late apples. The taste displays a malted wheat profile supported by sweet fruits and herbal notes. Alright mouthfeel, but rather too much on the sweet side. As a partner to vegetarian curry (Dove Street Inn, Ipswich 04.05.2008).

Small white head. Yellow body. Light rubbery malty aroma. Dry grassy floral hoppy taste with malty straw notes. Some residual sweetness in the background. Light, refreshing. No real aftertaste. For a light summer beer, this is excellent. (0.5pt draft at the Greenwich Union.)

DonMagi (5593) - bantervile, Bedfordshire, ENGLAND - NOV 12, 2007
Draught at the brewers wharf. Aroma is grainy and bready hints of herbal hop, but its frezing cold so all minimal. Taste is similar minimal, but quite refreshing and kind of what i needed, but ended up drinking the rasberry insted.

piscator34 (2529) - Winnipeg, Manitoba, CANADA - OCT 26, 2007
on tap @ The Market Porter. Light gold in colour witharomas of pale caramel malt, and a bit of sulfur. Fairly simplistic flavors of creme caramel and minty German hops. Far too sweet for the style and not enough carbonation.

motelpogo (7704) - Plzen, CZECH REPUBLIC - SEP 18, 2007
draught at the market porter. quite decent for a helles - light tinny hop aroma, golden, faintly grassy, true to style except a bit lighter and fluffier than the bavarian equivalent

[email protected] Porter, Borough. Golden colour, small white head. Aroma is really hoppy and malty. Flavour is grassyness, malts and some salty notes. Wellbalanced, and quite basic helles.
