Naval College version. From notes. Tasted in December 2012 from a capped 750mL bottle. Pours dark cola brown with an average tan head that leaves average lace. The nose is roasted, nutty dark coffee, some smoke, and dry molasses. The flavor is very dry and roasted with the same nutty coffee, touch of smoke, and molasses. The body is medium with light carbonation and a long roasted bitter finish. TheJestersBeer (2431) - SWEDEN - DEC 30, 2014
330ml bottle, as Naval College Old Porter.
Pours a dark mahogany, with a thin brown head.
Roasted, oaky, quite smoky aroma, caramel, iodine, chocolate, coffee, licorice.
Off-dry, medium body and bitterness, balanced CO2.
Roasted, woody taste, smoke, peat, licorice, iodine, coffee beans, vanilla.
Surprisingly lean for an 8% porter. A bit more body would indeed have supported the wood flavours better. Not bad, but no Hallelujah moment. (2014-12-30) Gary (2094) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - DEC 23, 2014
UPDATED: DEC 24, 2014 Bottled. A kinda grimy beer... a bit incoherent . 8.% so good boost . It’s a pretty earthy ,muddy kinda beer ,either dirty hops or malt. It’s not got roasted notes or chocolate I’d expect in a Baltic Porter. MWMBeerguy (203) - Massachusetts, USA - DEC 6, 2014
Heavy toffee aroma with a little roast. Smooth and buttery mouthfeel. Very tasty. ...............

75cl bottle from M&S. Poured a very dark brown, with a large, beige head. Aroma of rich, dark malt, oak, molasses and spice. Good mouth feel. Big roast malt flavour, with dates, spice and cocoa. Dark chocolate in the finish, with coffee and burnt malt.

Smooth porter with a pleasant taste, but it has no bite to it. Not bad, but not memorable.

Sample at a local tasting event. Thin redbrown body with a low head. Malt, band aid, wood and sugar. slowrunner77 (13171) - Reno, Nevada, USA - SEP 24, 2014
"A pretty solid beer, though not a standout in the baltic porter class. roast and anise are the two key aromas and flavors here. Medium bodied and a touch alcoholic, though not overly so. Lasting dry cocoa fruity aftertaste." fishonmyplane (505) - Newington, Connecticut, USA - JUL 27, 2014
Light smoke, rich malty sweetness with chocolaty, roasty, stout-like flavors. Medium bodied but sticky and lingering, with some toffee and caramel in the finish. I often find Baltic porters to be harsh on the palate, but here the craftsmanship and oak-aging has produced a very smooth & drinkable brew. A great beer that improves as it warms to room temperature. mike_77 (7226) - Breda, NETHERLANDS - MAR 12, 2014
Dark red-brown colour. Aroma of sticking plasters, wood and a hint of whiskey. Flavour has a vinous, fruity tartness and also some wood.
