Meantime Brew Master, Alastair Hook, has spent 20 years planning the quintessential English lager. His reasoning is simple. The great European lager brewers use very soft water and neutral yeasts to ensure that only the flavours of their locally grown malt and hops come to the fore. East Anglia is home to the world’s finest malting barley and Kent is home to some of the world’s best hops. Midway between the two, London is ideally placed to bring them together in a straightforward, clean, long-matured, unpasteurised lager, where all you can taste is malt and hop.

330ml Bottle from the Grolsch Brewery(this is brewed at Grolsch on occassions.) Bottle was shared. Appearance - golden body, with a decent head, that gives minimal lacing. Aroma Cooked vegetables, malts, some cereals and a hint of honey. Taste: light sweet, malts, with a slight bitter and dry finish. Thin watery body, soft carbonation. Good refresher but tasteless beer. .

Pint from keg at The Market Porter. Clear, light lager, refreshing, but not very rewarding as a certain metallic touch can be appreciated

Bottle at Swan, Farnborough. The only new tick! Musky malty yeasty lager aroma. Light gold and bubbly. Bubble white head. Initial sweetness, before light-medium bitterness kicks in. Tangy. Light bodied. Watery. Fizzy carbonation. Abrupt finish. It’s a lager. It’s OK. Had worse.

Ok lager. Pretty refreshing better than a cheap swill lager but not much. Would drink again on a hot day.

Clear light yellow with no head. No aroma. Slightly musty/dirty lager flavor, slightly bitter aftertaste. Not very special. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Keg. Pours pale golden with a nice white foam. Scent is bog standard lager. Taste is consistent. Pale malt. Clean water. Fine.

Bue à la pression. Blonde dorée limpide. Lager plutôt bien faite. Effervescence moyenne Grain principalement, s’éteint très vite .

AshtonMcCobb (6613) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - MAR 27, 2017
Bottle from the Caley Picture House. Appearance - golden with a decent lacy head. Nose - big cooked vegetable note on opening. Some honey and cereal notes too. Taste - more of the expected lager notes, dry citrus at the back. Palate - light bodied with a long lean middle section that continues through the finish. Overall - this refreshed which is all you necessarily should demand from a lager.

undercurrent25 (2142) - Barnton, Cheshire, ENGLAND - MAR 21, 2017
Pours a very pale colour. Taste is slightly malty. Some sucrose syrupy taste and quite watery. Not great

Bottle from Sainsbury’s. Pours pale straw with almost no head. Lively fizz and clear in colour. Taste bland with malt-forward balance. Aroma predominantly hay, sawdust and slight earthy notes.
