Meantime Brew Master, Alastair Hook, has spent 20 years planning the quintessential English lager. His reasoning is simple. The great European lager brewers use very soft water and neutral yeasts to ensure that only the flavours of their locally grown malt and hops come to the fore. East Anglia is home to the world’s finest malting barley and Kent is home to some of the world’s best hops. Midway between the two, London is ideally placed to bring them together in a straightforward, clean, long-matured, unpasteurised lager, where all you can taste is malt and hop.

330 ml bottle fridge cool served in a chalice. Yellow body, thin white head. I struggled to discern a faint straw aroma. Also struggled to find anything major going on flavour-wise. A little malt, soap and marzipan. Not terrible, just quite basic lager.

.... Liked it. Nice mixture of hops and malt. Mellow and easily drunk. Short sharp crisp. Yeah get the rubber on nose but in good way strangely. Not sickly and good for session

Bottle 330 ml from Waitrose. Aromas are malts and citrus. Body is clear golden and bubbly with small white head. Taste is crisp malts with a citrus finish. Overall good lager.

alexmate (286) - South Yorkshire, ENGLAND - SEP 14, 2017
Lovely golden colour. Has a grassy hoppy character with a malty caramel aftertaste. More like a lagered ale than a lager. Price Paid: less than £1 on clearance.

330 ml bottle,bb 13/07/2018. Golden, clear,no lacing. Nose - grass with traces of sewage. After few minutes sewage becomes prominent so drink quick. Taste - no different to any "premium lager".

Hanoi (974) - Greater Manchester, ENGLAND - SEP 11, 2017

Lonick (2537) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - SEP 1, 2017
Bottle @home (rating backlog). Pours yellow, golden, slight hazy, thin white head. Nose is grass, cooked vegetables, lemon. Taste is bitter, lemon, hay, sweet finish, wow the finish is very sweet, more vegetables.

330ml Bottle from the Grolsch Brewery(this is brewed at Grolsch on occassions.) Bottle was shared. Appearance - golden body, with a decent head, that gives minimal lacing. Aroma Cooked vegetables, malts, some cereals and a hint of honey. Taste: light sweet, malts, with a slight bitter and dry finish. Thin watery body, soft carbonation. Good refresher but tasteless beer. .
