COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle and keg - force carbonated. Is available cask conditioned. Cold fermented and lagered.
Ingredients: Pale ale malt, pale crystal malt, and Munich malt: Cascade, Cluster, and Goldings hops.

One hundred and fifty years ago the new bitter beer style, Pale Ale, was so popular that brewers had to import Californian hops to meet demand. Meantime London Pale Ale continues that tradition by combining lots of American Cascade and Centennial hops to give it a complex citrus aroma and buckets full of local Kentish Goldings to provide the bitterness that makes the style so refreshing. Together they conspire to assail the nose with a complex, heady mix of spearmint, grass and ‘hop sack’ aromas, fruity citrus flavours and a bitter finish that makes pale ale drinking a truly rewarding experience.

330ml bottle. Slightly cloudy copper with a thin off-white head. Decent if unremarkable aroma with hops and a little yeast. Flavours of citrus, perhaps some peach. A good amount of hops and enough bitterness to counterbalance the real sweetness this beer has. A good pale ale, pretty well balanced.

330ml bottle from Tesco. Fairly nice aroma of quite floral hops with a bit of spice and orange peel. Appearance is an almost-clear amber colour with a 1-finger off-white head with gentle carbonation. Taste is gentle citrus and American hops. Palate is slightly carbonated and quite smooth.

(330 ml can) Pours a clear golden beer, with a foamy white head. The aroma is very traditional: light English hops, floral notes, fresh grass, nettles, biscuits, oak, corn, bready malt, a slight sulphur note, and some bitter earthiness on the finish. Moderately bittersweet throughout, and a light-medium mouthfeel. This is a fairly traditional English pale ale: quite pleasant in its own right, but not full of flavour. It could be more interesting and better blended – definitely better from the bottle.

I bought this bottle from one Monoprix in Paris. I drank it yesterday at home after the Galicienne. It is a typical pale, I could say more American than British, classic like a piece of theater of Shakespeare, refreshing. The color is orange/copper, regular carbonation, thin and white head. The taste is bitter, good for the throat after a long day in the mine or the manufacture, hop, malt hidden by this flower, the final is a bit watery, a bit fruity, not bad.
