Bottle and keg - force carbonated. Is available cask conditioned. Cold fermented and lagered.
Ingredients: Pale ale malt, pale crystal malt, and Munich malt: Cascade, Cluster, and Goldings hops.

One hundred and fifty years ago the new bitter beer style, Pale Ale, was so popular that brewers had to import Californian hops to meet demand. Meantime London Pale Ale continues that tradition by combining lots of American Cascade and Centennial hops to give it a complex citrus aroma and buckets full of local Kentish Goldings to provide the bitterness that makes the style so refreshing. Together they conspire to assail the nose with a complex, heady mix of spearmint, grass and hop sack aromas, fruity citrus flavours and a bitter finish that makes pale ale drinking a truly rewarding experience.

Bottle. Amber/Gold in colour. Bitter hoppy (aromatic, oily, resinous, piney and grassy hops). Very citrus fruity (grapefruit and orange). Malty base (buttery, caramelly). Bitter resinous hops throughout. Dry citrus hoppy finish. Not bad. Liked this. (2009-04)

Bottle as gift. Pours clear copper orange with a quickly dissipating off-white head. Aromas of orange pith, barley sugars, a gentle buttery malt and bittering hops. Plenty tart, hoppy flavours bringing grapefruit and some pineapple sensations. Theres a bready malt smoothing things out. The initial soft light mouthfeel is followed with a refreshing sparkle adding sharpness. This is crisp and refreshing with a well-balanced bitter hop kick. A flavoursome pale ale.

Pours golden, clear. Ring of head. Aroma is grapefruit. Medium-light body. Weird flavor. Starts grainy, goes a bit sweet, then back to being grainy. Dry finish, kind of filmy.

Aroma: when opening it was one of my favourite english hop smells. After that all aroma disappears into an average "beer" smell, at least in my case. Appearance: nice golden colour, off white head that disappears quickly. Nice and clear. Taste: quite pleasant, noble hops as expected, nice bitterness that lasts just long enough. Malty character is good but not outstanding. Palate: average, thick enough for a golden ale but a little too carbonated for my liking

330ml bottle. Pours a golden amber and very slightly hazy with a small off white head. Nose is pretty aromatic, sweet caramel malt with some hoppiness as you would expect from a Pale Ale. Unfortunately the taste is very average at best, initially its nicely malty and then the mouth feel is that of water, with a dry slightly hopy finish. Its not bad, tastes fresh etc but just very unexciting. @ 1.50 - 2 a 300 ml bottle was expecting a bit more.

I honestly believe that "cold fermented" is what does this beer in. Hops fail to shine and bitterness is hidden in the cereal malt.
