"Meantimes London Stout is very much an old London beer as it would be made today."

50 cl bottle. Clear, dark brown colour with a dense medium-sized tanned foamy head. Roasted malty aroma with notes of chocolate. Moderately roasty bitter flavour, light bodied with a slightly sharp carbonation. Quite slim, roasty bitter finish. Light-bodied but still tasty.

500ml bottle. Darkest brown colour with small to average, frothy to creamy, half-way lasting, moderately lacing, beige head. Roasty, dark malty aroma, hints of coffee, underlying, cautious hints of blueberry. Taste is roasty dark malty, slightly bitter, subtle sweetness, fruity hints of blueberry and bramble; minimally metallic finish.

Bottle - dark with small tan head. Strong citrus - vanilla aroma. Slight ting in mouth, good chocolate taste with bitter finish. Bit watery consistency - not thick and creamy - better when initial fizz fades.

Bottle from Waitrose. Pours rich dark brown, the body looks like Coke, but with a bubbly beige head. Aroma is weak and somewhat flat, with some wheat, coffee, also a bit of earth and cardboard (although not unpleasant). Rather watery in texture. Somewhat refreshing for a stout.

500ml bottle. Dark umber, pours with an off-white head. Weak aroma of malt. Similarly weak, the flavour is of burnt malt, with an slight aftertaste not unlike the scent of a freshly-painted room. Odd, to say the least. EDIT: having sampled a second bottle, the paint-like aftertaste is no longer present, having been replaced by a faint milkiness. Much more agreeable than an aftertaste of primer! (taste score raised from 5 to 7)

500ml bottle. Very dark brown almost black colour. Small tan brown head doesnt last long. Aroma seems a bit weak but theres definitely a roasted coffee/malt, a little chocolate. Flavour is pretty much the same, roasted malts, a bit of coffee and/or chocolate too but mostly in the aftertaste. Pretty nice beer, just feels a little weak compared to similar beers.

Butelka. Ciemno brazowe prawie czarne. Piana srednia palona szybko opadajaca. W zapachu chmiele palone i kawowe nuty. Smak dominuje kawa.karmel i lekko chlebowy posmak. Swietne piwo.

Appearance-Extremely lively head that stays for ages! The beer is a deep caramel/coca cola colour, with very mild carbonation, and good lacing around the glass Aroma-Some roasted coffee notes escape through the thick head. A stale bread and yeasty smell is also present. Alcohol is present, but a little unpleasant smelling Taste-Sweet with a bitter note developing. Quite well rounded and smooth down the throat. Some flat coffee notes developing as well. Milk chocolate present when lapped over tongue. Burnt notes aswell Palate-Soft and a little oily. Coats the roof of the mouth. Abrupt finish however, leaving a whisper of bitterness. Very easy drinking Overall-A decent pint to session, especially with the relatively low alcohol, but for a craft stout, it leaves a little to be desired, especially in taste
