Tap @ Greenwich Union: Ruby in colour with a short beige head. Sweetish clean malty notes. Dry biscuits. Ok, but nothing special.

First time I tried this it was quite badly skunked but this one looked a lot better. Classic appearance; darkish brown but with a cola-like clean appearance. Nose shows a nice elegant light chocolate note, maybe a touch of caramel, but definitely not much in the way of hops. [330ml bottle, The Bottle, York] Pours highly carbonated, swiftly dispersing head with a regular rising carbonation. Clear caramel brown copper colour, little hop aroma. Gentle, subdued flavour - very dry, little hops but some malt to balance out. A smooth easy drinker. The prime character is malt, with a caramel flavour that peters out very quickly indeed and finishes quite thin. It’s a good approximation of a style, but not a great style. Bottle 33 cl from Bier-Bienne (CH). Very nice copper reddish, small and fleeting collar white-cream, average crackling. Aromas of malt-toffy, stone fruits and kernels. The taste is malty caramel and toasted, rather round, hints of bitterness, nuts and tart tips.
