Bottle, bought @ Vinens Verden, Odense. Pours a deep mahogany with a small, rather fizzy off white head. Aroma is rather roasted with a little background of coffee. Lively mouthfeel. Flavour is liqourice, coffee and a chocolate background. There is a smokiness to it as well. Perhaps this is a bit thin on the ground. But as it sits in the glass, it somehow settles a little and turns just 0.2 better. Tranquillity (2333) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 2, 2007
Bottle. Strong smokey roasted coffee and urine (!) aroma. Still not that bad, but the toilet smell was a bit... off. Taste liqurice, salty, chocolate. Really black colour, thick white head. oh6gdx (26488) - Vasa, FINLAND - DEC 1, 2007
Bottled. Deep ruby red colour with mediumsized head. Aroma is roasted malts, chocolate and some coffee. Flavour is very much the same. Not that exciting flavour. Dedollewaitor (16159) - Odense, DENMARK - NOV 30, 2007
Bottle 50 cl. Pours dark brown with off white creamy head. Strong malty roast aroma - coffee/chocoalte/dark fruits & a bit of smoke. Body is medium and soft and all around this is very pleasant & well made. Carbonation is quite british - rarely noticeable. sayravai (4710) - Helsinki, FINLAND - NOV 30, 2007
(Bottled) Very dark, clear cola color with a small, partly lasting head. Coffee-malty, dark-fruity, slightly roasty aroma with sourish malt. Roasty-burned-malty, dark-fruity flavor with an ashy, dry finish. Medium-bodied, slicky and low-carbonated palate. An acceptable, but not very interesting brew with a slight overdose of color malt.

Bottled sample. Roasted coffee and chestnut aroma. Classic dark porter appearance with a dark yellow head. Flavours are black coffee, with undertones of nuts, cherries and strawberries. Syrupy texture with a pleasant cough medicine like finish. Superb. Jukkabro (3484) - Tampere, FINLAND - NOV 25, 2007
Near black colored, little yellow head. Sweet, roasted, even obviously smoked aroma with some licorice. Medium bodied. Flavor starts also with nice and dominating smoke and sweet roastiness, caramel also here. Aftertaste turns to dry and mildly hopped. Carbonated brew with round ending. berkshirejohn (6501) - Bracknell, Berkshire, ENGLAND - NOV 23, 2007
UPDATED: OCT 24, 2014 500ml bottle from Sainsburys.Opaque dark brown in colour, not as black as most porters; rapidly vanishing beige head; chocolate aroma; spicy to start then developing a strong dry roasted malt flavour that’s overpowering and leaves a rather caustic smokey finish. Bottle from Sainsbury, Heyford Hill, Oxford Poured looking every inch like a glass of coca cola, dark brown, bubbly and with beige head. Aroma a bit coppery like copper coins held in ones hand for a while, also I got a whiff of shandy bass. Tasted a bit smokey and sweetish but the coke similarities I mentioned earlier were in a way back again albeit another soft drink, as I got Dr Pepper, or sasparilla. I’m going against the grain I think with my review as beers go ok, as soft drinks go this is fine and a soft drink is all I thought about when I drank this. harrisoni (18578) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - NOV 22, 2007
500ml Bottle from Sainsbury. Very deep ruby with lasting dark beige head. Slightly smokey aroma. Decent milky coffee notes. It’s a kind of strong smokey porter. Would like a bit more depth in the mouth. Still a nice smoked beer.
