Reddy brown beer. Not great, a little disappointing. Out a bottle at parent’s house. tdtm82 (1701) - Essex, ENGLAND - NOV 21, 2009
My bottle is different the one on the picture. Same brewery though. Best before 17th December 2010. Poured from a 500ml bottle bought from Sainsburry’s (whilst I could find it) into a Budvar tankered glass.
No smoke from the bottle. Pours a thick red/brown colour. Lovely red texture. Like Newcastle Brown Ale x300%. Really nice touch. The head is creamy and raised but simmers down to a lght creamy head similar to Budvar Dark funilly enough.
Aroma is good, dark chocolate roasted malts, chocolate, burnt toast and biscuits. Leather, vanilla and raisen texture. A very nice winter warmer. I recommend. I’d love to have this at the brewery. This is a fantastic beer by one of my favourite domestic breweries. renffisch (891) - london, Greater London, ENGLAND - NOV 10, 2009
hazy brown in colour, thick, fine bubbled beige head. smells strongly of spoilt old cooking apples and alcohol. very fizzy and extremely watery in flavour. very thin ... a faint taste of coffe, smoke and old pork. disapointing... Nisse666 (7974) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - NOV 9, 2009
Färg: Kaffe, lätt och snabbt försvinnade skum
Doft: Kaffe, mäsk?, vörtbröd
Smak. Mörk rostat kaffe, fyllig smak som försvinner omgående.
Sista ex i Karlskoga (utställnings dito).

Another poor Meantime beer for me. Looked like coca cola, with a thin palate. Nice faint chocolate in the mouth but otherwise thin, uninteresting and a general waste of time.

Bottle. Pours a dark reddish brown color with a small off-white head. Roasted malty aroma with hints of chocolate. Has a roasted malty sweetish caramel flavor with hints of chocolate. Has a roasted malty finish with some hints of bitterness in the aftertaste and some hints of chocolate. floydian1 (1490) - FNQ, Australia, - SEP 12, 2009
Tasted from 500ml bottle into a pint glass. An opaque black beer with a dark red hue and a moderate beige head. Nose of burnt coffee, bitter dark chocolate, warm chestnuts, dark fruits and toffee. Nice dark roasted malts on the palate with a smoky bitter dark chocolate finish. Medium bodied without the richness of many other stouts. Tastes more reminiscent of a schwarzbier to me but still nice. bobinlondon (1297) - Harrow, Greater London, ENGLAND - SEP 5, 2009
Bottlefrom Sainsbury’s on special for 85p! Chestnut red with a natural lacey magnolia head. Hints of milk chocolate and a gentle smokyness. Rounded toffee finish with minimal hops. This sure as hell ain’t a stout.! DeanF (2527) - Quebec, CANADA - AUG 31, 2009
Smells of muddy, murky barley, not a crisp smell and not something I find very appealing. looks all right, a little light coloured for a stout and no real head. Taste is all right, a little watery as far as stouts go, with a dark roasted barley flavour. Very simple. Rather weak, in my opinion, for this style of beer. (Bottle) Dark reddish brown colour with lasting, frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of dark bread, dried fruit, chocolate, some smoke and a touch of soy sauce. Malty, roasted taste with dark fruit, chocolate, coffee, dark bread and a touch smoke. Some confusing citric notes, that seem out of place. Medium body, rather dry. Slightly out of balance but still a nice beer.
