Pours dark brown with a small head. Nose has alot of chocolate and sweeter, smokey malt notes. Palate transaltes well, more choc with mild coffee and a very slight smoked malt character. Overall, a pretty straightforward beer, nothing overly inspiring, given the choice i’d much rahter go for their london porter.

Smoky roasty and sweet stout with a bitter finnish. Simple but very pleasant.

light, sweetish and slightly spicy with a little warming alcohol, not sure I’d rate it as a stout though. slips down a treat on a chilly night. okay.

Bottle. Nice ruby red/copper brown color, rich and fluffy head. The first thing that strikes me in the aroma is the smoke. Wasn´t really expecting that, but as a great fan of Bamberg, it´s all good. Unfortunately, nothing else really happens with this beer, and it ends up feeling like a pretty lame copy of Schlenkerla´s Märzen. The palate is weak, and in the end the brew feels rather watery.

Brown color with a red glow. Creamy tan head. Surprisingly light aroma of roasted malt, cocoa and some strange floral hint of soap. Flavor is roasty with coffee, dark chokolate and smoked ham.

Bottle from Sainsbury’s. Pours a very dark reddish brown with a quick to go head. Strong aroma of dark malts and then coffee and dark chocolate and malts in the mouth. This to me is more of a porter though.

An oily black beer with a lasting beige head. There was a distinct sour apple/cider aroma as it poured which soon disappeared to a coffee cake mixed with a woody/whiskey alcohol aroma. Flavours of more coffee cake, some spicey bitterness and very faint smoke. a nice porter in my opinion.

500cl bottle. Bought in a Sainsburys in the West Midlands by my son. Poured a very dark brown with a white creamy head but a bit light for a porter. Taste was quite bitter but balanced by a background sweetness with both coffee and chocolate notes. A very pleasant winter beer.

Fair to middly - wanted this to be great, rich etc... Yes, there was a fantastic aroma, smokiness, and look, but lacks head, length, and legs.

Bottle 500ml. Pours a dark brown/red colour, with a small beige head. Head lasted all of a minute. A sweet aroma of lightly roasted coffee. The coffee is there in the taste too, along with a certain smokiness and berries. Has a liquorice aftertaste. A little soapy towards the end. Okay for an occasional drink, but you would soon get tired of it if you had it too often.
