Bottle. Poured a clear pale yellow color. Smelled of flower blossom and honey. Smooth and sweet with a somewhat oily mouth feel. Honey, sweet white wine, and apple flavors. BeerandBlues2 (13638) - Escondido, California, USA - FEB 15, 2009
Bottle. Pours hazy light yellow. Aroma is heavy hay and straw, flowers, earth, and honey. Full bodied, thin texture, a bit dry on the finish. Long duration, moderate sweetness, light acidity and bitterness. Somewhat alcoholic texture. sloth (2913) - Ceciltucky, Co., Maryland, USA - JAN 11, 2009
Bite me Brian ;) Still pour. Lightly hazy , light urine color. Nose of grapes and light honey, lightly sweet and floral. Light body, lightly oily on the palate, low acidity, sorta blah. Genteel fruitiness, honey and light citrus flavors, faint cinnamony notes with some vinous notes also. Fairly dry, quick finish. Alc. well hidden. OK brian, sorry i was bashing yer Mead around buuuut the friday night SSSLBTs (thats right i added a B in there!) tastings are just that, BEER tastings! I love you man! Thanks bro! B good! Bottle shared by eaglesfan. Clearish yellow/orange. On the nose there was a hint of sweet honey and grapes. Taste was pretty much the same. Sweet honey, light fruity taste. Easy to drink. I would of never guessed it to be 13 percent alcohol. Overall it reminds me of a wine, not my favorite style but still enjoyable. Thanks Brian for sharing. User37895 (3042) - - JAN 10, 2009
Bottle from aracauna back in Fall 07, shared at the SSSSLT. Poured a slightly hazy bright yellow color with no head. The aroma was strong honey, floral notes, fruity ester type stuff too. The flavor followed, a smooth and drinkable mead with a mildly acidic finish. The fruity overtones came through in the flavor as berries and grapes. I was diggin this regardless of sloth dubbing it to be a weak mead - kiss it Bert! And, thanks Jacob for the bottle.

Leftover bottle from RBSG from PP’s secret stash. I was blown away by Medovina’s Melissa mead, so I was eager to try this. The aroma is great, very floral, reminds me of wax lips, probably from the flowers the bees used to gather the nectar for the honey. Others described in ways that wasn’t so appealing, but I loved it anyway. Very light yellow color. Flat. Leans sweet, but not over the top sweetness that I like in meads. Great white wine substitue. Tasting at PP Carlsbad, leftover from RBSG. 2005 Semi Sweet vintage. Light pale yellow hue. Nose is honey, wax, grass/earth, floral, ash, alcohol. Taste is light honey and floral tones with grass and mint, finishes with delayed alcohol burn. Light-bodied with slick texture. A solid mead with slick texture and suppressed alcohol. aracauna (3631) - Georgia, USA - AUG 6, 2007
This doesn’t have the complexity of some of the others. This is a 2004 bottle I got from the owner (by way of my sister. There’s a peachy fruitiness, light sweetness, and a noticeable acidity, but I wouldn’t say sour. Nutmeg. A burn after the swallow that surprised me. A bit watery on some sips. 26 oz from Liquor Mart, Boulder. Clear pale gold with delicate, frail legs. Sweetish honeyed nose comes across rather spicy, hinting at mustard seeds, cream and the typical perfumey medovina house character, clover, herbs, light cheese, white grapes, toasted bread etc, though nowhere near as well integrated as the sweet Melissa to me. It doesn’t have the wow character, feeling more like your average liquorous white wine. Mineral in mouth, biscuity and graham like, it develops a sincere alcohol warmth that doesn’t translate into flavour. Keeping its herbal leanings from the aroma until the end, it shows more and more lasting as it warms. Light-medium bodied with an oily texture. I can’t recommend strongly enough to let this one breathe a lot because I swear it had improved significantly (in the sense that it seemed more intensely aromatic and more composed in its sweetness) after leaving it re-corked without pumping the air for a week in the refrigerator after opening. tiggmtl (4544) - East York, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 31, 2006
Orange blossom, floral, nutty, musty, honey aroma. Hazy blonde body is still and quite viscous. Nice legs on the glass. Nutty, floral, musty flavour has some notes of cinnamon. Alcohol is surprisingly apparent with strong warming. Somewhat aqueous in texture. Bottle (Bottled in Nov-04) sampled with MartinT, Rastacouere and Siroy.
