Draft at brewery: Golden hue with a nice and foamy (and lasting) white head. Smooth body with a complementing carbonation level. Malts were bready and a little nutty. A honey-like sweetness lingered. Light, herbal hops. Very small hint of fruit in the background. Nothing to get excited about, but it was a decent-drinking beer. Capa (3402) - Kitsap, Washington, USA - NOV 3, 2007
Labled as Tsunami Lager. It still suprises me what you can find at some of these small liquor store in Japan. Hazy copper orange with a finger of white head. Aroma is toasted caramel malts, some earth tones, some herbs, pleasent. Flavor isn’t as nice as the aroma, but it’s not bad. Toasted malts, some sweet caramel notes, and some earth. Finishes with a little hop bitterness. This beer proved to be much better than I was expecting. jeremytoni (3082) - Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA - JUL 6, 2009
From a bottle poured a golden colro with a fair amount of head. Nice sweet spicy flavor with a quick finish. DarkElf (3066) - La Jolla, California, USA - OCT 3, 2005
(12 oz bottle: Purchased by my buddy Norm in Hawaii) From memory, this doesn’t taste significantly different from the now-retired Mehana Beer. This has a fairly aromatic, sweet and very bready nose. Flavor is also sweet and very bready initially, and there’s a bit of lightly bitter hops in the finish for at least an attempt at balance, though the breadiness easily wins out. Light to medium in body, fairly carbonated on the palate. Dark golden color, hints of amber, and very hazy for reduced translucence. The off-white head is fairly large after the pour, and though it dissipates to a thin film, plenty of foamy, patchy lacing is left on the glass. This actually isn’t a bad beer, and exceeded my expectations. jonno (2886) - JAPAN - JUL 5, 2009
Had a very strange grassy smell. Not too pleasant. Decent lager though, quite full bodied. Nothing to get excited over, but I wouldn’t knock it back if offered.

12 oz bottle on board Hawaiian Airlines. Surprising amber color with a decent head. But that is where the love stopped. Aromas were rather vegital. The Flavors were similar with a sourness that I just didn’t like. ElGaucho (2401) - Minnetonka, Minnesota, USA - FEB 22, 2005
Smells bad. Does not promise anything special. Actually smells old. Lots of visible carbonation. Darkest gold to light amber in color. Off-white head. Some hop bitterness. Tastes better than it smells, although still a little thin and bland. Goes well with Havarti cheese, which brings out the hops. Not great but better than I expected. Another decent entry from Mehana. A darkening amber beer with better than average head which never totally dissapeared. No lacing. A dry malty aroma that was perhaps a little too weak but pleasant enough with a bit floral added. Good mild matly taste and some weak hops in the background made this stuff pretty smooth but a tad lacking in flavour. Drink this ice cold or while lashing out at friends with death threats. Emptied the glass quite quick. I’d have no problem have a case in the house. savnac (2391) - Anchorage, Alaska, USA - APR 2, 2011
On tap @ the Yardhouse, Oahu. Yellow with a white head. Faint aroma of bready malt and very light hop. Clean flavor of some malt and light bitterness. Light body with active carbonation and a crisp finish. Nice beer, no flaws and refreshing. shadey (2149) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - DEC 28, 2010
12oz bottle from Hawaii. Pours a bright melon orange with a massive rock white head of tight white bubbles. The aroma is slightly sweet and has hints of orange peel and lemon. Flavors are initially bland and lager-ish, but the finish reveals some of the citrus. Not a bad little lager from a tough-to-get brewery.
