UPDATED: NOV 24, 2006 This lager was enjoyed on a flight to Honolulu on Hawaiian Airlines. Micros on airlines what’s next? The head poured a foamy white and it lasted. The coppery color was clear and attractive. The lager had medium bitterness and a malty taste. I had two even though they cost $5 each. MrRomero (1976) - Nolanville, USA - JAN 6, 2005
Pours copper with a shortlived cream colored head. Initial aroma was of chlorine followed by a sweet, slightly apple juice aroma. A touch of cinnamon. Flavor is mostly malt with a bit of apple. Decent effort. nqualls (1452) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - JAN 1, 2009
Bottle. Poured a clear gold color with a two finger white head. Aroma and flavor was malty, with an earthy finish. Not a bad island beer. Zinister (1423) - Houston, Texas, USA - JUL 25, 2007
Had at Lobar in beautiful Crested Butte. Don’t have my ratings, but I recall the overwhelming aroma and taste of vegetables....not my cup of beer. WISEGUY572 (1377) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 12, 2003
Clear reddish beer with a crisp white head. Malt, citric, floral, pleasant enough, and easy drinking. Best enjoyed with pizza in Hilo where it is brewed.

Poured from tap to glass. Straw hue with creamy white head. Aroma is straw, sulphur, white peppercorn. Mouthfeel is great with medium light body and zesty carbonation. Taste is dry throughout with bitter sulphur following and a clean finish. Overall this is a nice brew. Derek881 (1272) - Denver, Colorado, USA - JUL 3, 2007
Sampled from the six-pack I bought at the brewey in Hilo, poured into a pint glass. The beer was clear with an orange-amber color and a small, bubbly, white head that was quickly gone. The aroma was of floral and herbal hops with some maltyness and a "cold" scent. The beer was somewhat wet and oily with very flat carbonation and was very smooth. The taste was a bit sour and bitter, only light sweetness. Probably my least favorite of the Mehana brews. luckygirl (1222) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JAN 1, 2006
Had this bottled in Kona, HI. The beer was a clear, medium-amber color with a large, frothy, pale tan head. Aromas included light malty notes of tasted grain and molasses, light hoppy notes of herbs and grass and a teeny tiny notes of apricot and coriander tucked into the back somewhere along with something that smelled of decaying leaves in autumn and maybe raw squash. The flavor started moderatly sweet with a trace of bitterness with a long finish that started with light sweetness and ended with light bitterness. The body was light-to-medium, the texture was watery and the carbonation was fizzy. The aroma was interesting, but I’m not sure that those autumn-like notes were intentional ... or necessarily welcomed. AleDrinker (1089) - Sunnyvale, California, USA - JUN 19, 2008
Not really sure why this is listed as a vienna. Besides the beer being pale yellow, there is really no malt presence at all. Not much hops either. I would put this as maybe a American Premium. That should give you a good idea of what this beer tastes like.
