12oz bottle...doubts going into this...but then, surprisingly, it poured AMBER! Ok, deep bronze...My hopes are being toyed with here...so I’m spending some time looking at it b/c I’m still doubtful it will be anything interesting...Almost off-white head, slight bubbles rising lazily...my wine goblet is sweating in this HI humidity....OK, the test...Moderate to mild aroma shows malt! yes, malt and a nice little hop highlight gets slipped in...then, watery...The beer is OK w/ this slightly malty munich-type character, but watery...to its credit, the hops do kick back in the finish to add some interest to this otherwise bland beer, but I also get this sort of sweaty character...it isn’t skunky, maybe oxidized??? The more I sip it, the more prominent it becomes in my mind...I don’t think it is infection, itjust isn’t a very good beer. It certainly tried though. Even with these flaws, I’m happier drinking this than I was the Negro Modelo I had with lunch. Schultsc (572) - San Diego, California, USA - AUG 12, 2006
On tap at the brewery. Pretty bland beer. Extremely light-bodied with few grain or hops flavors. Fairly one-dimensional unfortunately. Another obligatory and uninspiring light lager. Derek881 (1272) - Denver, Colorado, USA - JUL 3, 2007
Sampled from the six-pack I bought at the brewey in Hilo, poured into a pint glass. The beer was clear with an orange-amber color and a small, bubbly, white head that was quickly gone. The aroma was of floral and herbal hops with some maltyness and a "cold" scent. The beer was somewhat wet and oily with very flat carbonation and was very smooth. The taste was a bit sour and bitter, only light sweetness. Probably my least favorite of the Mehana brews. jhwarfield (125) - USA - JUL 22, 2006
Just okay. pours golden with nice carbonation. decent hops flavor. AleDrinker (1089) - Sunnyvale, California, USA - JUN 19, 2008
Not really sure why this is listed as a vienna. Besides the beer being pale yellow, there is really no malt presence at all. Not much hops either. I would put this as maybe a American Premium. That should give you a good idea of what this beer tastes like.

Pours goldne with a white head. Aroma is malt fruity notes, green apple and light citrus hop. Flavour is malt, citrus hop and fruity notes. Tastes more like a steam beer. weezfour (124) - Oradell, New Jersey, USA - MAY 4, 2008
Hmm nothing big to mention here, basically what you would expect out of any lager. Pretty run of the mill stuff. Coming from Hawaii I guess you just naturally want things to be a little bit more exotic, but I guess sometimes a lager is a lager is a lager. Definitely not bad by any means though. shrubber85 (11408) - Greenville, Indiana, USA - SEP 24, 2008
Bottle. Canned pineapple and barley malt aroma. Amber color with a moderate head. Sweet pineapple/orange malt flavor with a metallic aftertaste. Christian (13670) - Odense, DENMARK - FEB 12, 2010
Golden with a lasting white head. Aroma has some green apple notes, along with citrus hops. Sweet and resinous hoppy flavour with a somewhat unpleasant (tannic?) bitterness. BeerBelcher (972) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - JAN 26, 2008
My Dad spent Christmas on Kauai and all I got was this (mostly) lousy beer. A pretty bad aroma, but a decent flavor, although a bit spicy for a lager.
Appearance was a soapy and slightly dirty looking caramel color. Aroma was mercaptan and pretty much only mercaptan - think a compost pile. Flavor was significantly better, although not great. There is a malted milk ball flavor with significant cloviness and some evidence of hops. Mouthfeel is clean and as a lager should be.
I can’t really recommend this, but it is not awful and a bit unique.
