This is one good Bock. Dark, intense malty flavors, some sweetness, but complex enough to be highly enjoyable. ElDesmadre (3630) - Mikołów, POLAND - DEC 28, 2016
Draught. Caramel, raisins, dried fruit, cherries, alcohol well hidden, soft mouthfeel, amazingly quaffable given the style. Medium body, medium sweet, like a creamy dough cake. Really excellent bock. Big surprise. Michael27 (2290) - Berlin, GERMANY - OCT 3, 2016
Frisch vom Hahn in Meissen getrunken. Das Warten hatte ich auf den 2016er Jahrgang gelohnt. Voll süffig. djoeye (5085) - Tromsø, NORWAY - JUL 28, 2016
Aroma of old caramels, old milk and grass. Fawnish bighead, amber clear body. Taste has caramel, leaves, grass, bread-malts - leading to a blended grass-malty finish. Normal to palate. Approved bock. [Session @Finn’sCastle] Finn (7916) - Tromsø, NORWAY - JUL 27, 2016
Flaske 500ml spandert av Rune. Delt med ham og djoeye på Nerstranda 22 Jul 16. Mørk gyldenbrun. Middels høyt skum med litt farge. Etterlater nydelige filigranser. Utmerket maltaroma. Litt søt. Smaken søt malt. Bra - men i søtligste laget.
Rune (13382) - Tromsø, NORWAY - JUL 24, 2016
500ml bottle bought from a store in Meissen. Good looking with its deep amber body and lasting off-white head. Decent lacework as well. Ripe fruity aroma with hints of brown malts. Dried and dark fruity flavours together with bread and caramel malts. Prolonged finish with some impact of leafy hops. Fine bodied. Good drinking, only a bit too sweet in the long run (shared with djoeye and Finn at a summertime session in Tromsø, 22.07.2016). motelpogo (7704) - Plzen, CZECH REPUBLIC - AUG 9, 2014
bottle from a leipzig getraenkemarkt. brown and clear with not much of a head; sweet and sticky aroma suggesting territaki sauce; loads of caramel but balanced with some soy sauce and plum wine rosenbergh (11760) - Tampere, FINLAND - DEC 4, 2012
Draught at the Meißner Schwerter Schankhaus, Meißen, Germany.Koelschtrinker (21318) - K?ln (Cologne), GERMANY - NOV 16, 2012
Clear reddish brown colour with small to average sized fluffy off-white head.
Strong Bocky malty aroma with mild hops and hints of metal.
Caramel malt, very strong maltiness and mild bitterish hops in flavour. Easy Bock.
Süßer malzbetonter Start, bereits früh wird die Intensität des Bieres offensichtlich. Leicht röstig, dies könnte aber noch stärker sein denn die Süße gewinnt die Oberhand. Rund malzig, für einen Doppelbock süffig. Nett! 11/11/12/11/10/11 8 BlackHaddock (7585) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - APR 4, 2012
International Green Week, Berlin 2012: our second day and Hall 21b took us to Sachsen and Nordrhein-Westfalen where I was drawn to a brewery bar selling Landskron Pilsner; I wandered around drinking my Pilsner and noticed the Meissener Schwerter Privatbrau stand (correct name of the brewery) and bar, draught Bock catching my eye. Returning my empty Pilsner glass and getting my deposit back from the Landskrone bar I hot footed it back to the Bock pump and asked for one of these.
0.3 Litre poured into a cute little handled mug; amber/brown body with a well formed head of beige foam on top.
The aroma was of malty molasses: caramel and toffee apples.
The taste also malty, with the same flavours as the smell, add a faint trace of alcohol and a mini bitterness from the hops and you’ve got a very nice Bock indeed. Good body depth and strength, this is right up there with the best ‘ator’ beers.
