Copper with good, creamy beige head / Lightly sweet, malt nose / Medium body with hop backbone and good finish / Flavors of burnt sugar, tangerine, and a touch of pine on the finish / Surprisingly good effort from Mendocino. argo0 (14127) - Washington DC, USA - SEP 27, 2007
(12oz bottle) Medium beige head that diminishes rapidly atop crystal clear amber body. Aroma is moderately sweet, caramel/bread, light spice. Taste is moderately sweet, caramel/bread, spicy. Light-medium body, light acidity. jpm30 (1587) - East Central, Georgia, USA - SEP 25, 2007
On-tap, served in a stein mug.
Poured a clear reddish copper with a rocky slightly off-white head, slowly settled into a thin sudsy lacing. Plentiful supply of flowing micro bubbles.
Aromas of toasted grain bread, hints of caramel, light apple fruitiness and subtle herbal hops.
Crisp medium body, a tad too much carbonation for my liking, but overall, a smooth drinker. Grain bready in the beginning, ending with a nice toasted sweet caramel. The mild fruitiness has the taste of white raisins sprinkled over a wedge of green apple. Softly earthy hops add a spiciness to the dry nutty caramel finish.
Not a bad seasonal offering from Mendocino, better than I was expecting, surprised to see it on-tap.

Sampled from bottle. Flavor was that of citrus and tart fruit. Flavor was decent enough, and a surprise result from most of the Oktoberfest beers I’ve been having lately. Brewosk (137) - Illinois, USA - SEP 22, 2007
Good citrus apple flavor on tap at the Oasis. Good maltyines but low hop flavor. Pleasing pour when on tap.

I also tasted the apple-citrus flavor. It was slightly sweet and slightly tart. The first mouthfull was definately a surprise, but it didn’t hold up for the rest of the glass. It’s an okay beer, but I wont go out of my way to find it again. reggiekoko (10) - saint augustine, Florida, USA - SEP 18, 2007
Poured a bright copper hue. Head disappeared quickly with little lacing. Had an apple-citrus flavor with a slight maltiness. Mouthfeel was pleasant. An interesting brew but not my favorite Octoberfest. mgumby10 (1856) - Jupiter, Florida, USA - SEP 15, 2007
Pours a clear, copper red color with a medium, but well-retained off white head. Smells of mild light malts, maybe some light fruits in there too. Nothig too exciting. The taste had a profound little sweet fruitiness to it, mixed in with some cinnamon spice and malts. i didnt get much of a hop presence, only a touch of it in the finish. Aftertaste was mildly bitter, with a sweet coating on the palate. Not a bad brew, from a style I’m not usually excited about. Tmoney99 (14948) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - SEP 13, 2007
Bottle from River’s Bend. Poured clear copper color with an average frothy off-white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate toasted sweet malt aroma. Medium body with soft carbonation. Medium balanced flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. The beer goes well with pizza. igneous1 (1538) - Davenport, Iowa, USA - SEP 12, 2007
amber color, virtually no head, nose is bready malts, slight brown sugar in the flavor, especially in the finish. OK
