Drake (13739) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - OCT 8, 2008
12 oz. bottle from Sam’s Quik Shop. Clear reddish pour with a pencil thin head that quickly fades. Very malty aroma with some caramel apple notes. Taste is caramel, yogurt covered raisins (yeah, weird, i know) and some subtle hops. Medium bodied.

This pours a clear amber body with a slender head that soon reduces to a ring around the glass. It has a sweet aroma of caramel and juicy fruit. The flavor gets back to the business of an Oktoberfest, having a toasty malt taste with a balancing herbal/earthy bitterness. Not bad.

jrob21 (3690) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - OCT 6, 2008
Bottle at the Midway. Pours a cloudy dark orange almost brown color. Muted aroma of wheat, grain, and bread. Flavor is faint again with some bread and toasted grain with a bit of a bitter hop finish. Have had way better this season.

BückDich (5464) - McCall, Idaho, USA - OCT 6, 2008
Bottle: Pours a dark amber color with a light head. The nose is toasty with some caramel and juicy plums. A bit of toast, dough and yeast in the flavor with a hint of alcohol and apple in the tail. Decent oktoberfest beer with a little more fruit than I like. Decent balance and a chewy body.

mcjay (463) - Neenah, Wisconsin, USA - OCT 4, 2008
Copper/golden color with a thin white head. Malty mouth feel with a slightly roasted caramel taste and a mild sweet aroma.

Hangover (1136) - oxford, Georgia, USA - OCT 3, 2008
Nice brow-reddish pour with a thin beige head. Aroma is caramel with sweet malty notes. Flavor isn’t quite a sweet as the aroma belies, but there is a nice malty, caramel, bisquit thing going on. Even some herbal notes towards the finish. Sweet, medium bitter finish. Pretty decent ofest.

3.3
IlanMan (1015) - Appleton, Wisconsin, USA - OCT 2, 2008
Bottle: Pour is amber/golden with a nice off-white head. Aroma is biscuity with light hops. Flavor is light malt with light/medium hop characters. Real easy drink and blended real well. May buy again.

Somewhat dry finish for an Oktoberfest. Decent for the style-- but this style is not one of my favorites so I’ll leave the gory details to others.

tedovertu (297) - Apple Valley, Minnesota, USA - OCT 1, 2008
Medium amber copper color. A little bitter for a Oktoberfest but balanced with some sweet malt. Medium bodied with a little dryer finish than most Marzen’s.

Deep amber beer, thin white head. Aroma is sweet and lightly toasty and malty wit abit of herbal spicy hops. Pretty nice balanced. Sweet but not sticky. Biscuity with lots of chewy munich malts. Pretty solid interpretation.
