COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Eye of the Hawk is an excellent, strong, rich bodied ale that is "Bottle Conditioned" to perfection. "Eye" is coppery reddish-amber in color and its unique taste is the result of a judicious mix of caramel and pale malted barley, balanced with Cluster, Cascade and Saaz hops. This gives the Eye its luxurious flavor, substantial mouth-feel and that slightly dry finish.

UPDATED: JAN 31, 2013 Here we go, pouring into a glass tulip. Aroma: Smells a little like bread. After that first whiff the smell of my hand lotion took over, so thats all I got. Appearance: Pours a rusty ruby-brown color, with about a finger and a half of head. The individual bubbles are pretty large. Taste: This is a strange tasting beer. Sweet at first, then it changes to bitter, almost sour aftertaste. Palate: Medium bodied, but it almost seems thin, or slippery. I got this as part of a build your own six pack. Its a decent beer, but I personally wont be buying anymore. It aint got shit on some Stone Arrogant Bastard.

From old tasting notes. Cloudy Amber orange color. Bubbly beige head. Earthy, spicy malt aroma. Spicy, fruity hop aroma. Bittersweet fruity malt flavor is balanced by a complex spicy hop finish. Very tasty and bold with a subtle alcohol punch.

UPDATED: APR 25, 2017 12oz bottle. Poured a clear amber color with a small white head. Aroma was some light malts, sweet notes. Some nice resinous hop notes. Easy to drink for the ABV on this one.

Bottle. Clear amber color with small off-white head, fruity caramel aroma, medium carbonation, lightly bitter caramelized malt taste, a bit salty, alcohol undertones, thin body, medium finish. Not bad, not great either.

Bottle from Total Wine, Gainesville VA. Almost clear amber, just about no head. Heavy caramel candy aroma. Flavor is overly sweet caramel candy, rubbing alcohol, grass. Ill finish the bottle, but Id never seek this out.

Underrated and hard to find outside or NorCal and some niche markets. A kind of Imperial Amber, though not overpowering. I would certainly recommend trying it, as there really arent many things to compare it to in Southern California, where Ambers are a less popular style. Only complaint being that quality is inconsistent, I think more due to storage and shipping than to brewing.

22 ounce bottle. I couldnt find a date of any kind. Pours a 24 karat gold with a substantial head of foam that shrinks to aboot a quarter inch. Some nice lacing. I get caramel malt, fruity hops, some booze in the smell. Caramel malt and fruity tastes up front, mild bitterness mid palate, sweetish finish along with some alcohol and alcohol burning. Medium body and carbonation. A bit of a different bird here. I enjoyed the bottle and may pick up another.

12 oz bottle. Thought this beer was just average. It is slightly too sweet and a little boozy.
