3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
12oz bottle. Pours thick with a decent head, very clear, aromas of sweet malt dominate along with some hop aroma and oxadation and a weird metalic smell. Flavor is much the same, a sweet scotish style malt flavor, some hops, though I’d like more to balance sweetness. Finishes kind of sweet too not inviting another sip. OK-nothing to write home about.

Clear Amber hue with a light, thin white cap. Sugary nose of caramel and faux-bubblegum, cotton candy and a nary a whiff of hop. Suprisingly dry flavor that’s a touch herbal and bitter with a bright caramalty backing and a boozy phenolic tone. A bit sloppy and disjointed. Full but herbal and red-caramalty. Weird. Bottle: Clear amber with a small off-white head. Aroma is lots of sweet caramel, malt. Taste follows suit with some alcohol notes. Body is thin, finish is dry. Just too sweet and harsh on the palate for me. But at least it’s different from the pack.

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. The appearance is a slightly cloudy amber color with a medium sized white head. The aroma is slight hops and sweet yeast. The taste is malt and hops. A very good beer. gripweed57 (2584) - Hamilton Square, New Jersey, USA - APR 25, 2017
From old tasting notes. Cloudy Amber orange color. Bubbly beige head. Earthy, spicy malt aroma. Spicy, fruity hop aroma. Bittersweet fruity malt flavor is balanced by a complex spicy hop finish. Very tasty and bold with a subtle alcohol punch.

UPDATED: APR 25, 2017 12oz bottle. Poured a clear amber color with a small white head. Aroma was some light malts, sweet notes. Some nice resinous hop notes. Easy to drink for the ABV on this one. trapped (3225) - New York, TURKEY - APR 8, 2017
Bottle. Clear amber color with small off-white head, fruity caramel aroma, medium carbonation, lightly bitter caramelized malt taste, a bit salty, alcohol undertones, thin body, medium finish. Not bad, not great either. hershiser2 (3410) - Charlottesville, Virginia, USA - DEC 1, 2016
Bottle from Total Wine, Gainesville VA. Almost clear amber, just about no head. Heavy caramel candy aroma. Flavor is overly sweet caramel candy, rubbing alcohol, grass. I’ll finish the bottle, but I’d never seek this out. darren1775 (8) - - NOV 22, 2016 does not count
Underrated and hard to find outside or NorCal and some niche markets.
A kind of Imperial Amber, though not overpowering. I would certainly recommend trying it, as there really aren’t many things to compare it to in Southern California, where Ambers are a less popular style.
Only complaint being that quality is inconsistent, I think more due to storage and shipping than to brewing. tsd08460 (1190) - Marshall, Virginia, USA - JUN 12, 2016
